JOB OVERVIEW

About the Role:
We are seeking a Technical Writer & Executive Assistant to support grant proposal development and technical documentation. This role involves drafting narratives, scopes of work, budget justifications, and supporting documentation (e.g., templates for Letters of Support and Letters of Commitment).

The Technical Writer will work closely with a lead executive with over 12 years of experience in grant strategy and proposal development. Writing will go through structured drafting rounds, incorporating strategic input, scoring optimization, and iterative revisions to ensure alignment with funding agency criteria.

This is a highly collaborative role, where the writer is expected to refine drafts based on strategic feedback while adhering to structured workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities
1. Grant Proposal & Technical Document Writing
- Draft proposal narratives, scopes of work, and budget justifications based on funding opportunity requirements.
- Assist in developing supporting documents such as Letters of Support/Commitment templates for partners.
- Ensure technical accuracy, clarity, and alignment with grant guidelines and client objectives.

2. Structured Drafting & Review Process
- Submit drafts at scheduled intervals to align with strategic input from the lead executive.
- Incorporate feedback and edits based on structured review rounds before client submission.
- Revise content to enhance clarity, persuasiveness, and compliance with grant criteria.

3. Score Optimization & Strategic Alignment
- Complete score optimization spreadsheets at each drafting stage to track alignment with funding agency scoring criteria.
- Use score tracking to ensure proposals are progressing toward a competitive final submission.
- Present score optimization insights to the client as part of development updates.

4. Collaboration & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Follow SOPs for structured writing, review, and editing workflows.
- Work collaboratively with the executive to refine proposal strategy and implement best practices in grant writing.

Required Skills & Qualifications
1. Technical Writing Expertise
- Highly preferred: Experience with grant writing and proposal development.
- Alternatively: Technical writing experience in a comparable field (e.g., RFP responses, government proposals, research reports, or regulatory documentation).
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives.

2. Writing & Editing Skills
- Exceptional written communication, grammar, and document structuring skills. (English)
- Experience in drafting budget justifications, scopes of work, and technical narratives.
- Ability to follow structured review feedback and implement revisions effectively.
- Ability to leverage and prompt ChatGPT effectively and efficiently with a mastery level in prompting with the ability to know when, where, and how to structure AI-generated content into a larger scope proposal.

3. Process-Driven & Detail-Oriented
- Strong organizational and time management skills—capable of managing multiple deadlines.
- Comfortable working with structured workflows, SOPs, and iterative drafting processes.
- Proficiency in document tracking, version control, and structured editing rounds.

4. Analytical & Score Optimization Focus
- Understanding of grant scoring frameworks or willingness to be trained in score optimization techniques.
- Ability to analyze funding criteria and track draft progress toward competitive scoring.

5 Collaboration & Adaptability
- Experience working closely with executives, teams, or clients in a writing-intensive role.
- Ability to adapt writing based on strategic guidance and structured review feedback.
