We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Scraping & Organization Specialist to help us gather and organize sports betting picks from various online forums. Your primary task will be to extract and structure historical picks from betting discussions and organize them by individual sport, capper, and date.
This is an opportunity to work with a growing sports analytics team and play a key role in building a comprehensive database that will be used for future analysis, modeling, and performance tracking.
Responsibilities:
Scrape Data: Collect sports betting picks, predictions, and related discussions from popular sports betting forums and websites.
Organize Data: Categorize and store the data according to sport (e.g., football, basketball, baseball, etc.), capper (individual or group making the pick), and pick date.
Data Cleaning: Ensure that scraped data is accurate, free of duplicates, and formatted correctly.
Create a Database: Build an organized database or spreadsheet that tracks all picks made by capper and by sport throughout the year.
Quality Assurance: Conduct periodic reviews of scraped data to ensure consistency and accuracy across entries.
Provide Regular Updates: Update the database regularly with new picks as they become available on the forums.
Requirements:
Ablilty to look at trends from the data scraped and be able to identify key patterns.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle large volumes of data.
Familiarity with sports betting terminology, betting odds, and understanding of various sports (football, basketball, baseball, etc.).
Experience with data organization and database management (Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, etc.).
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges during the scraping process.
Nice to Have:
Previous experience scraping sports-related websites or forums.
Knowledge of API integration or scraping directly from non-HTML sources (e.g., JSON, RSS feeds).
Understanding of betting systems and how they apply to different types of picks.
