I started my career as quantity surveyor for a general contractor doing fit-out estimates, RFQ's, PO's and progress billing using SAP. I have also did some contracts management related duties such as billing charges, closeout matters and quit claims. I also joined a design and build contractor that caters government and commercial projects. As QS, I have used Planswift as take-off software for material and cost estimates of projects up for bidding. I also prepare financial documents for public bidding, and do necessary site investigation during prebid conferences.One of my expertise as well is my employment in a water concessionaire in the Philippines where I was a Non- Revenue Water Engineer for 5 years. I was first assigned in the design and cost estimates section to prepare technical plans and documents of pipe replacement projects for tendering. The job involves planning, coordination, design and estimates of pipelines, civil works, appurtenances and specialty works when needed. For two years, I have worked remotely as a Non- revenue Water Engineer focusing on research, data analysis, coordination and monitoring teams and third- party contractors. Due to pandemic, I was introduced to different tools to aid my role to be effective even virtually. Such tools are MS Teams, Zoom, Whiteboard, MS Outlook schedule/ calendar feature. My presentation skills in MS Powerpoint and analysis with the help of MS Excel has improved due to rampant virtual meetings then.I was also hired as a Cost Segregation Engineer by a US- based Cost Segregation Software start-up. The main role is to provide cost segregation study for commercial and residential structures by doing as- built estimates. This is done using pictures, Google Earth images, documents and RS Means data.
