Job Title: WordPress Web Developer for Location-Based Directory Website
Job Type: Part-Time (Remote)
Salary: ?300/hour. 20-hours per week.
Start Date: ASAP

Who We Are:
------------------
We are an established media company with 20-years experience.

Job Description:
----------------------
We are seeking a skilled WordPress Web Developer to build a dynamic, location-based directory website. Similar to Upgrade to see actual info.

The site will allow users to find nearby businesses based on their location and specific criteria, displayed on an interactive map.

The site should have an interactive map, that can detect the user’s location (and also allows them to enter a location) and display the filtered results in a map format on their screen.

We would like to use a WP plugin like GeoDirectory. And we will use Open Source maps like OpenStreetMap instead of Google Maps.

You will work 4 hours a day Monday-Friday for a total of 20 hours per week. We expect the total project to take 100 hours. (5 weeks). Payments will be made every Friday (by PayPal) before midnight U.S. PST.

You should be available during U.S. times to facilitate feedback requests.

Key Responsibilities:
----------------------------
- Design, develop, and customize a WordPress website using a modern, responsive theme.

- Integrate a plugin that automatically detects the user’s location and displays relevant businesses on a map.

- Implement an OpenSource mapping system (e.g., OpenStreetMap or similar) instead of Google Maps for the location functionality.

- Ensure the website is optimized for speed, SEO, and mobile devices.

- Create an intuitive backend system for managing business listings and criteria.

- Test and troubleshoot the site to ensure a seamless user experience.

Requirements:
---------------------
- Proven experience as a WordPress Developer with a portfolio of completed projects.

- Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

- Experience with WordPress plugins, custom themes, and site optimization.

- Familiarity with OpenSource mapping systems (e.g., OpenStreetMap, Leaflet, or Mapbox with OSM data) and integrating them into WordPress via plugins.

- Ability to recommend and implement a suitable location-detection plugin that aligns with the OpenSource map requirement.

- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines. It is VERY important that you speak fluent English because time is wasted when going back and forth if instructions are not interpreted well.

- Must have (or start) a Slack account for communications, a DropBox account for file transfer and a working PayPal account to receive payments.

Preferred Skills:
-----------------------
- Experience with WordPress directory or listing plugins (e.g., Business Directory Plugin, GeoDirectory, or similar).

- Knowledge of APIs for geolocation and mapping integration.

- Understanding of UX/UI principles to enhance site usability.

How to Apply:
-------------------
- Please submit your resume, a link to your portfolio, and a brief explanation of how you would approach building this location-based website using an OpenSource map system.

- Highlight any relevant experience with similar projects. We’re excited to see your creativity and technical expertise in action!

- Put the words “DIRECTORY PROJECT” into the title of your response.
