QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Solid Tax Preparation experience for 5 years (no other job in between).
2. Enrolled agent of IRS or Certified IRS for 3 years.
3. If not an enrolled agent or IRS certified, then solid tax preparation experience for 5 years will prevail.
4. If has a tax preparation experience for less than 5 years, then should be an IRS certified or enrolled agent for 3 years.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collect and review clients' financial documents (W-2s, 1099s, receipts, etc.) for accuracy.
2. Prepare and complete federal, state, and local tax returns using tax preparation software.
3. Apply deductions, credits, and adjustments to minimize taxable income.
4. Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
5. Advise clients on potential tax-saving opportunities, such as deductions and credits.
6. Submit tax returns electronically (e-file) or on paper by the relevant deadlines.
7. Communicate with clients to clarify tax issues, gather missing information, and answer questions.
8. Assist clients in case of audits or discrepancies with tax authorities.
9. Maintain accurate records of filed tax returns and supporting documentation.
10. Provide long-term tax planning advice to help clients minimize future tax liabilities.
11. Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive client information.
12. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and adjust tax preparation practices accordingly.
13. Assist clients in filing amended returns when necessary to correct errors from prior years.
14. Abide by the IRS’s ethical standards and uphold professional guidelines (e.g., AFSP compliance).
