Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Surveyor to join our team and perform land surveys for a variety of construction and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring and mapping land features, providing accurate data for project planning, design, and construction. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of surveying technology and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Survey Planning & Execution:
- Conduct precise land and construction site surveys, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and as-built surveys.
- Use surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS systems, and drones to collect accurate field data.
- Analyze survey data to produce maps, blueprints, and reports that are used in project planning and design.
2. Data Collection & Analysis:
- Perform calculations for measurements of distances, elevations, angles, and land contours.
- Interpret field data and input findings into CAD software and GIS systems for further analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project teams to ensure accurate data integration into project designs.
3. Site Inspections:
- Conduct site visits to verify survey results and ensure that construction is proceeding according to plans and specifications.
- Identify potential problems related to land features and provide solutions to address them during the planning phase.
- Monitor and report on changes in site conditions, updating surveys as necessary to reflect current data.
4. Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure that all survey work complies with local, state, and national regulations and standards.
- Maintain and update accurate records of all survey data, including field notes, sketches, maps, and reports.
- Prepare detailed documentation and reports for project stakeholders, highlighting any issues or changes in land features.
5. Boundary Surveys & Legal Support:
- Perform boundary surveys to determine property lines and help resolve disputes related to land ownership or boundaries.
- Prepare legal descriptions and documents for property acquisition, zoning, and development purposes.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Geodetic, Civil Engineering.
2. Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a surveyor in the construction or civil engineering sector.
- Experience using advanced surveying tools and software (e.g., GPS, total stations, AutoCAD, GIS).
3. Skills:
- Strong knowledge of surveying methods, legal guidelines, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for precise calculations.
- Proficiency with surveying software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS systems.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
4. Certification: Licensed as a Professional Surveyor (if required by local regulations) is preferred.
5. Others:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
