Who we’re looking for:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accurate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for multiple CPG brands and products, ensuring financial accuracy across multiple KPI dashboards, and reviewing monthly and quarterly financial statements. This position will work closely with both our US and Philippines teams to support financial operations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
COGS Management:
Accurately calculate and manage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for multiple CPG brands and products.
Track raw materials, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate product costing.
Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely and accurate updates to COGS.
Financial Reporting:
Review and analyze monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Prepare and submit financial reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial insights.
Assist in the preparation of budget vs. actual variance analysis and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
Month-End and Quarter-End Close:
Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions related to inventory, COGS, and expenses.
Audit and Compliance:
Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the US and Philippines finance teams to streamline accounting processes and ensure data consistency.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, sales, procurement) to gather data for financial analysis and COGS management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or equivalent professional certification is a plus.
2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the CPG industry or with exposure to managing product costs and COGS.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and COGS management.
Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting software. ERP experience is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with teams in the Philippines and the US.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining accountability and collaboration with the team.
