Sr. Backend Engineer

The Republic of Palau's Digital Residency Program provides the world's first Web3 ID, which supports the application of Palau ID and ID on-chain. We are seeking an experienced Back-End Engineer who possesses a deep understanding of Django, Django Rest Framework, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of our platform, ensuring that it meets the current and future needs of our users and the web3 community.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate project requirements into efficient back-end solutions
Minimum of 4-5 years of professional experience with Django and Django Rest Framework
Proficient with PostgreSQL, with an ability to design and optimize complex queries
Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles
Build and maintain secure databases
Integrate with front-end for seamless user experience
Conduct thorough testing and debugging of back-end systems, including unit testing, integration testing, and load testing, to ensure high-quality and reliable deliverables
Monitor and optimize server infrastructure
Stay updated with Web3 trends; write clean code
Participate in agile development processes.

Must-Have:

Proven work experience as a Back-End Engineer, specializing in server-side development and web application architecture.
Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Node.js, Python, or Go, and relevant frameworks and libraries.
Proficient understanding of databases, including both SQL and NoSQL solutions, and experience with database design and optimization.
Familiarity with API design principles and RESTful architectures, as well as experience in integrating external APIs and blockchain networks.
Understanding of version control systems, such as Git, and collaborative development workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze and debug complex back-end issues.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Fluency in English.
