Solar PV (photovoltaic) Designer

As a Solar PV Solar Designer, you will work closely with our project managers and sales team to design solar systems estimates and quotes for a variety of projects. You will be responsible for utilizing OpenSolar software to create accurate, efficient, and cost-effective solar designs based on client specifications and site conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of solar energy systems, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency with solar design software.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design Solar Systems: Use OpenSolar design software to draw 3d roof images and create detailed, accurate solar system designs for residential and commercial projects.
• Site Assessment: Analyze client site conditions (e.g., roof space, shading, orientation) using satellite imagery and other tools to ensure optimal system placement and performance.
• System Sizing & Configuration: Ensure the correct sizing of solar panels, inverters, and other components based on energy needs, local regulations, and site-specific conditions.
• Pricing: Generate adequate pricing for each project, ensuring all components are included and meet pricing requirements.
• Collaborate with Team: Work closely with the sales team and project managers to ensure the designs meet both technical and customer needs. Provide design recommendations and address any client-specific challenges.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare design reports, proposals, and other documentation for client presentations and regulatory approvals. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and local regulations.

Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a solar designer or in a related role (1-2 years preferred).
o Experience with solar system design, including system sizing, component selection, and performance modeling.
o Proficiency in using software for solar design and system layout.
o Knowledge of solar panel types, inverters, energy storage, and other system components.
o Strong understanding of shading analysis, energy yield predictions, and site assessment tools.
o Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in system design and documentation.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and clients.
o Ability to troubleshoot and address design challenges or constraints, while proposing effective solutions.
o Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote work environment.
