JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Solar Designer to join our team. In this role, you will review and optimize solar designs using Aurora software and site survey photos to ensure that the original sales designs are feasible and accurate. You will make necessary adjustments to create efficient, code-compliant designs ready for submission for stamped plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dimension Verification: Compare dimensions from site survey photos to Aurora designs to ensure the originally sold layout fits correctly, making adjustments as needed.
• Shading Accuracy: Ensure shading is accurately represented in Aurora to reflect true site conditions.
• Roof Quality Assessment: Verify that the roof quality is suitable for installation based on site survey photos.
• Production Tolerance: Ensure the production of the final design is within acceptable tolerance compared to the originally sold design.
• Design Optimization: Make layout changes when necessary, produce maximum-fit designs to utilize available space efficiently, design for optimal energy production, and accommodate any special layout requests from clients or sales teams.
• Aurora Expertise: Produce designs in Aurora solar software, have the ability to draw buildings in Aurora without relying on AI tools, and be comfortable navigating Aurora and utilizing all applicable features.
• Scanifly Expertise: Confidently create designs utilizing Scanifly Solar Design Tool.
• Compliance Check: Verify that designs meet local codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of design reviews, modifications, and communications.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with sales and engineering teams to communicate findings and implement improvements.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Renewable Energy, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience in solar design using Aurora software, with the ability to create detailed and accurate designs without reliance on automated tools.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of solar PV systems, design principles, and local building codes.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve design issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Problem-Solving Ability: Proactive approach to identifying potential challenges and implementing solutions.
