As we continue to expand, we are seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to join our team. This role will report to the Controller.
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant with commercial construction accounting experience to be a dedicated part of our accounting team. The ideal candidate will bring comprehensive accounting expertise, strong self management and team leadership abilities, and excellence in maintaining financial controls and systems. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing day-to-day accounting processes and communicating with operational managers and staff at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage payroll processing and HR functions, with a preference for experience in multiple states including Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, etc.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Coordinate insurance renewals and manage insurance audits
• Assist the Controller with financial statements and special reporting as required
• Handle general office administration duties as required
• Utilize construction industry knowledge to effectively manage financial processes
• Establish and maintain accounting best practices, controls, and systems
• Special projects as directed by the Controller or CEO
Key Performance Objectives
• First 3 Months: Become proficient in the financial systems and company processes and procedures, support the month end close and reporting deadlines
• First 6 Months: Strengthen knowledge in areas of responsibility through learning and development opportunities, either company or self-directed
• First 12 Months: Become a key resource in areas of responsibility, supporting the Controller with additional responsibilities as required
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• CPA required
• Strong understanding of US GAAP
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on, full scope accounting experience
• Minimum 3 years commercial construction accounting experience
• Extensive experience working in Sage 100 Contractor (previously Master Builder)
• Proven experience in payroll processing and HR administration, preferably across multiple states
• Experience with Certified Payroll wage reporting for government contractors
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Word
• Strong technology and computer skills
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and effectiveness
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Superior organizational, prioritization and time management skills
• Exceptional attention to detail, with a high numerical aptitude
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
Preferred
• Public accounting experience
• Experience with a variety of accounting software and bill payment software
• Experience with insurance renewals and audits within a corporate environment
• Previous office administration experience
Work Environment
• Full time, remote, independent contractor role
• Must agree to hold this role exclusively, with no other projects or clients
• Align to the organization’s eastern time zone working hours (8 am – 5 pm EST)
