Project Engineer

Pre-construction


- Review and understand owner contract’s scope of work
- Build a project schedule with Asst Project Engineer and coordinate input into Buildertrend.
- Ensure project sites have job box, permit documents, working set of drawings, and proper signage
- Project mobilization (temp toilets, dumpsters, temp utilities, etc.)
- Review any long lead items (order group #1) and ensure the Preconstruction Manager has ordered them.
- Review subcontract scopes of work. PM to provide after Subcontractor has been selected and PO executed in BT.


Construction


- Jobsite layouts (building, windows, doors, tile etc)
- Communicate with the clients of all projects at least once a week about the status of their project.
- Ensure ‘daily logs’ are completed for each project 2 times per week.
- Pre inspection walk throughs to ensure work is complete to avoid schedule delays
- Schedule inspections and meet all inspectors on site.
- Manage and update 3 week look ahead documents for Tuesday morning meeting. Update every week.
- Update project schedules with Assistant Project Engineer.
- Schedule trades to complete work
- Give information to the project admin for ordering finish material – is responsible for when and how much, the admin will work with the owner for what and do the actual ordering. (Construction materials are ordered by the Project Engineer – misc lumber, concrete, etc.)

Other General Work Scope

- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed estimates for all phases of construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
- Develop and maintain cost databases for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare and submit bids for construction projects.
- Work with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.
- Understand construction divisions and do material take-offs

Requirements:
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and other construction softwares (e.g., BuilderTrend and ProCore)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills
