Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Grant Writer and Researcher to join our team in a part-time capacity. This role will focus on identifying, researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals for small businesses, with a special emphasis on women-owned businesses, minority-owned businesses, and businesses in the beauty industry, including hair salons. The ideal candidate must be able to find relevant funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and manage the entire grant application process from research to submission. This is a remote, part-time position that requires strong English language skills, efficiency, and the ability to deliver quality results on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Research:
Conduct thorough research to identify relevant grant opportunities for women-owned, minority-owned, and beauty-related small businesses.
Utilize a robust database of resources to identify ongoing and upcoming grants that align with the business’s goals.
Maintain an up-to-date list of grants and funding sources, ensuring no opportunities are missed for business owners in the target industries.
Research and source grants from a variety of outlets, including government agencies, private foundations, and corporate funding programs.
Grant Proposal Writing:
Write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals tailored to meet the specific requirements of each funding opportunity.
Articulate business goals, objectives, and needs effectively, with a focus on the business’s potential impact, mission, and alignment with the funder’s priorities.
Work closely with business owners to gather essential information for proposals, ensuring that all aspects of the business are represented accurately.
Grant Application Submission:
Submit completed grant applications to funding organizations according to each organization’s specific submission guidelines and deadlines.
Ensure all required documentation, forms, and supporting materials are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
Keep track of submission deadlines and ensure that all proposals are submitted in a professional and timely manner.
Proposal Editing and Review:
Edit and proofread grant proposals to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to grantor guidelines.
Review all materials for consistency, quality, and professionalism, making sure each proposal is free of errors.
Revise proposals based on feedback from internal teams or funders, as needed.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with business owners, especially those in the beauty industry and minority groups, to understand their needs and goals.
Provide regular updates to management or clients on proposal status, grant progress, and new opportunities.
Communicate effectively with funders, following up on submitted proposals and addressing any questions or concerns.
Tracking and Reporting:
Maintain a well-organized database of all grants applied for, including submission status, results, and any follow-up actions.
Monitor the success rate of past applications and refine strategies for future grant submissions.
Provide detailed reports on grant outcomes and trends, including insights on which types of grants are most effective for specific business categories.
Meeting Deadlines and Efficiency:
Manage multiple grant submissions simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
Prioritize tasks efficiently to ensure that all deadlines are met without compromising the quality of the proposals.
Work independently and manage time effectively, meeting or exceeding performance goals for grant application submission.
Qualifications:
Fluent in English: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar, style, and tone.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in grant writing and research for small businesses, specifically women-owned businesses, minority-owned businesses, and businesses in the beauty industry (e.g., hair salons).
Proven experience in successfully identifying and submitting grant proposals to various funding organizations.
Familiarity with grants specific to the beauty, wellness, and small business sectors.
Skills:
Strong research skills with the ability to locate relevant and reputable grant opportunities for businesses.
Knowledge of industry-specific databases and resources for small business funding, minority-owned businesses, and women entrepreneurs.
Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to develop clear, persuasive, and tailored grant proposals.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to track multiple proposals and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
Personal Traits:
Highly dependable, efficient, and self-motivated.
Strong attention to detail, able to submit error-free proposals.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without constant supervision.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business owners and funders.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience with grant databases (e.g., GrantStation, Foundation Directory Online) and other funding resources for small businesses.
Familiarity with grants for minority-owned businesses and women entrepreneurs, particularly in the beauty or wellness industries.
Previous experience working remotely in a part-time or freelance capacity.
