Position Title: Payroll Manager

Position Summary
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the payroll processes for both TurFresh and Express Chipping, ensuring compliance with multi-state labor laws and tax regulations. This role involves managing end-to-end payroll operations, verifying timekeeping data, and ensuring accurate and timely disbursements for employees and contractors. The Payroll Manager will leverage platforms such as Hubstaff, Jobber, Paychex, and Workyard to streamline operations and maintain payroll accuracy across all service areas.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
Manage weekly payroll processing for employees and contractors using Paychex.
Ensure payroll submissions are accurate and adhere to deadlines for both companies.
Timekeeping Management
Oversee time-tracking platforms (e.g., Hubstaff, Workyard, and FastField) to ensure accurate reporting of hours worked.
Audit and reconcile time records, including overtime, per diem, and missed lunches.
Compliance and Documentation
Ensure payroll operations comply with state and federal labor laws, including specific requirements for California, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, and Texas.
Maintain organized payroll records for audits and compliance reviews.
Dispute Resolution
Address payroll-related discrepancies, collaborating with department leads and employees to resolve issues promptly.
Investigate and resolve disputes regarding time logs, overtime, and expense claims.
Process Improvement
Develop and implement payroll SOPs to streamline processes and reduce errors.
Identify inefficiencies in time tracking or payroll workflows and propose solutions for improvement.

Take full ownership of payroll processing, including multi-state compliance checks.
Begin monitoring KPIs and reporting performance metrics to leadership.
Collaborate with HR and department heads to identify pain points in time tracking or payroll processes.

Implement at least one process improvement that increases efficiency by 10%.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in payroll management, preferably with multi-state and contractor experience.
Technical Skills: Proficient in payroll platforms (Paychex, Hubstaff, Workyard, etc.) and advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of labor laws (California, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Texas) and tax regulations.
