We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Remote Paralegal specializing in criminal law and expungement. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in preparing legal documents, conducting research, and managing client communications related to criminal cases and expungement processes. You will work during US business hours and get paid weekly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough legal research on US criminal law statutes, case law, and expungement eligibility criteria.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents, including petitions for expungement, motions, and briefs.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, explain processes, and provide updates on case status.
- Assist in managing case files, ensuring all documents are organized and deadlines are met.
- Prepare and submit documents to courts electronically, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures.
- Conduct background checks and gather relevant information to support expungement applications.
- Work closely with attorneys to develop case strategies and prepare for hearings or trials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law or/and a Juris Doctor degree is a must
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a remote paralegal for US law firms/offices, with a focus on criminal law and expungement preferred.
- Strong understanding of criminal law procedures, expungement laws, and the legal system.
- Proficient in legal research tools and case management software. Knowledge of PracticePanther software is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
