JOB OVERVIEW

POSITION OVERVIEW

Are you a skilled artist with a passion for teaching, creating, or inspiring young minds? Kids Cartoon Academy is looking for a talented Illustrator / Artist / Graphic Designer to join our growing team. We’re a fast-growing, online art education company dedicated to helping kids boost their confidence and creativity through fun, engaging cartoon drawing lessons.

Our CEO and small team of Filipino VAs have grown the company from scratch to serve over 1,000 monthly paying members in less than three years, and reach over 30,000 with our free and paid workshops. We aim to double in size (customers and revenue) in 2025. We have many exciting projects planned this year, and we need an exceptional artist to help bring them to life while supporting our vibrant community of young artists.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to create visually appealing content, provide art critiques, and support our growing community of aspiring young artists. This position is ideal for an artist with excellent foundational skills, a knack for design, and a heart for teaching and inspiring kids. There’s room to grow and move up in this position with your positive contributions to the company and as our startup continues to expand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your work will span a variety of creative and supportive tasks, including:
•How-to-Draw PDFs: Watch recorded live drawing lessons and turn them into visually appealing, easy-to-follow how-to-draw tutorials. These tutorials will serve as valuable resources for our members and could also be accumulated into a how-to-draw book.
•Outlines and Printable PDFs: Use provided sketches or finished art to create high-quality line work for printable coloring pages or drawing references.
•Graphics for Social Media and Ads: Quickly and efficiently create engaging graphics for social media, the website, and ads using Canva, Photoshop, or other tools. See examples on kidscartoonacademy.com and at https://www.instagram.com/kidscartoonacademy/.
•Logo Maintenance and Updates: Ensure logos and branding remain consistent across all materials???Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
•Art Critiques for Students: Provide constructive and supportive feedback to young artists (ages 6-14) in our members’ community by offering draw-overs in Photoshop, Procreate, or similar tools. Bonus: If you’re confident in front of a camera and fluent in English, you could create video draw-overs instead of static images.
•Community Support: Engage daily in our private community to encourage young artists, provide quick feedback, and guide them in using the community app effectively.
•Moderation of Live Classes (Preferred but Not Required): Help moderate chats during live classes at these times: Tuesdays at 7 PM ET, Thursdays at 2 PM ET, Saturdays at 11 AM ET and 12 PM ET.

REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for someone who brings the following:
•Excellent mastery of drawing foundations, including shapes, proportions, line work, color, shading, perspective, and character design.
•Proven understanding of graphic design principles with demonstrated ability to create visually appealing, cohesive designs.
•Proficiency with design tools like Photoshop or Procreate (or similar) and willingness to learn Canva and use it efficiently.
•Strong communication and feedback skills, with the ability to offer supportive and constructive critiques to young artists.
•Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects efficiently.
•A willingness to learn and grow as an artist, teacher, and team member while adapting to new tools like Notion and Slack.
•Preferred but not required: Availability to help moderate live classes during the times listed above.

POSITION DETAILS

•Rate: $4-$8 per hour, based on experience and skills
•Hours: Starting as part-time as you onboard and train (15-30 hours per week), ideally growing into full-time (40 hours a week)
•Growth Opportunities: Potential to grow into a more prominent role as the company continues to expand.

HERE’S WHAT THE RIGHT PERSON WILL LOVE ABOUT THIS POSITION

•Passion: You’ll be paid to do what you love—creating art, inspiring young artists, and learning new ways to make things work. We welcome your ideas and guidance on how to improve the business.
•Flexibility: Join a small, tight-knit company that can pivot quickly, improve rapidly, and have maximum impact. Hours are flexible as well. You’ll work with the CEO to set your schedule and then stick to it, letting us know in advance of needed changes.
•Impact: You’ll be part of a mission-driven company that empowers kids to embrace their unique creative spark, develop their artistic skills, and boost their confidence. Your work will have a direct role in changing the lives of thousands.

OUR TEAM VALUES

•Dedication: Hungry for achievement despite challenges.
•Compassion: We are our customers’ biggest cheerleaders and supporters. We show empathy to understand and improve the customer experience, and we celebrate their wins along with them.
•Impact: Fanatical attention to detail and consistency. You realize that every task you complete has an impact on the team and/or customer. If you’re not sure how it does, then you ask.
•Whatever It Takes: Resourcefulness. All hands on deck during launches because the whole team takes responsibility for the most important revenue events of the company.
•Innovation: Carefully-crafted, focused innovation. Constantly learning and improving. Moving quickly to keep up with the fast pace of change. Ability to shift tasks or focus quickly without wasting time or resources.
•Proactive Ownership: We don’t just identify problems—we own them. We take the initiative to solve challenges, improve processes, and contribute to the company’s growth without waiting for direction. Our team believes that every member has the power to make a positive impact, and we each step up to ensure success.

WHAT WE DO

At Kids Cartoon Academy, we help kids develop their drawing skills and confidence so that they can make art they love, overcome their inner critic and external discouraging factors, and are set up to pursue a creative life. Through engaging classes and community, we support parents and inspire kids ages 6-14 to develop their talents in a fun, structured environment.

Meet the Founder and CEO: Artist and Educator Daniel Grissom built Kids Cartoon Academy from scratch with a vision of making art fun, accessible, and transformative for kids everywhere. He’s committed to providing an environment where kids feel inspired and supported to develop their talents. He knows what it’s like to not have support for his creativity as a kid—he gave up on his creative dreams and stopped drawing for 20 years. Fortunately, he rediscovered his love of art as an adult and started Kids Cartoon Academy to make sure creative kids around the world don’t lose their creative spark like he once did.

2. Attach or link to your portfolio showcasing your art and design work. Include examples of illustrations, line work/coloring page designs, or social media graphics if available. We look forward to welcoming a talented artist to our team and growing together as we inspire the next generation of creative minds!
