Job Description: Home Health OASIS Reviewer and QA
Responsibilities:
Review OASIS documentation: Thoroughly examine Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) documentation submitted by home health clinicians for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Ensure coding accuracy: Verify that OASIS data elements are accurately coded according to established guidelines and standards.
Identify discrepancies: Identify any discrepancies or inconsistencies within OASIS assessments and work with clinicians to address and resolve them.
Provide feedback: Offer constructive feedback to clinicians on documentation deficiencies and coding errors, and provide education as needed to improve accuracy and compliance.
Stay updated on regulations: Stay informed about changes in Medicare regulations, guidelines, and reimbursement policies related to OASIS assessments, and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
Maintain documentation: Document review findings, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team: Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including clinicians, supervisors, and administrators, to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care.
Perform auditing of home health nursing clinical notes, input corrections, and provide guidance for RN/LVN/HA to maintain standards of documentation in compliance with Medicare existing policies
Qualifications:
Clinical background: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field, with a current RN license. Experience working in home health or a related clinical setting is PREFERRED. Medical coding certification preferred.
OASIS expertise: In-depth knowledge of OASIS assessment guidelines, coding conventions, and data elements.
Analytical skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation and identify discrepancies or errors.
Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of OASIS assessments.
Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback to clinicians.
Organizational skills: Effective organizational and time management skills to manage a high volume of OASIS reviews within established timelines.
Computer proficiency: Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other software applications used for OASIS documentation and review. Preferrably familiar with use of DSL/Kinnser.
