GL Accountant

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Divisional Accounting Manager, the candidate will perform general accounting duties, including but not limited to daily accounting activities, cash reporting, month-end entries preparation, account reconciliations, inventory costing, and ad hoc duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists in preparing financial reports and various accounting statements
Posts journal entries to general ledger for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
Generates summary sheets to be used by supervisor or auditor
Prepare sales tax calculation for filing and reconciliation of tax accounts
Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy
Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures
Assist in monthly BS account reconciliation
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:
5+ years of analyzing financial statements and building reports
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and finance principles
High proficiency of Microsoft Excel
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in work
Comfortable working in a consistently evolving environment. Must be flexible, adaptable, and demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills

Preferred Skills/Abilities:
Distribution, Manufacturing, or retail Industry experience is preferred

Education and Experience Requirements:
5+ years of accounting experience
Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting or related required
CPA, CMA or candidate for either is preferred
