Freelance Graphic Designer & Illustrator (Pet Industry)

Type of Position: Ongoing Part-Time (approximately 5-10 hours/week as needed)

Work Time Zone: Flexible, but deadlines must be met. I’m based in Melbourne, Australia (AEST/AEDT). If direct communication is required, it will be within standard business hours.

About the Business:
I own a dog-focused business, website, and blog, where we celebrate dogs through photography, storytelling, and informative content. We create engaging pet-themed designs for social media, blog graphics, printed materials, and digital resources. If you love dogs (not essential, but a bonus!), you’ll likely enjoy this role.

Scope of Work:
You'll be working on a mix of print and digital design tasks, these may include:

Digital Materials
- Social Media Content (including memes, Quotes, Questions, Carousels)
- Pinterest graphics
- Wallart examples
- Product Mock Ups
- Blog Graphics & Infographics
- Calls to Action graphics
- PDF documents & eBook generation
- Preparing Powerpoint & Slideshare Presentations
- Document templates
- Checklists

Printed Materials
- Brochures
- Booklets
- Postcards
- Cards
- Calendar
- Video/reels for social media

Video
- Reels

Illustrations (Nice to Have!)
- Watercolour or children’s book-style pet illustrations preferred

Design tasks may involve developing templates to fast track content development & replicating/repurposing existing designs or designing from scratch.

You will be provided with:
- Brand colours, fonts and materials.
- Photos & Videos as required.
- I also have a large collection of illustrations and graphics that can be utilised. Anything else required I will purchase if you can’t find a suitable item online that’s freely available.

Systems / Applications Used:
- Adobe Photoshop (M)
- Adobe InDesign (M)
- Canva (M)
- Capcut (D)
- Email + Slack (for communications)
- Google Drive + Dropbox for sharing documents, designs and illustrations

Ideal Candidate:
- Fluent in English (British/Australian preferred)
- Thorough understanding of the softwares listed.
- Understanding of social media, current practives and what performs well.
- Creative thinker who can suggest new ideas to elevate our brand visually
- Self-motivated problem solver – proactive in finding solutions
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and time management
- Reliable, honest, and accountable

- Experience with all three Mandatory applications is required for this position. Please do not apply if you don't have this.
- Pay is hourly and negotiable based on experience and design proficiency. Payrate will be in Australian Dollars (AUD).
