About the Role
As an Expert Product Market Researcher and Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying profitable products tailored to the Australian market and securing reliable suppliers to bring them to life. Your work will involve deep market research, supplier negotiations, and strategic analysis to ensure our product offerings stand out in a competitive landscape. This role requires a blend of analytical skills, creativity, and strong communication to manage supplier relationships across borders.
You’ll focus on two key product groups:
- Type A (High RRP, Low Volume): Premium products with an RRP of $500–$2,000, low competition, and high consumer interest.
- Type B (Low to Medium RRP, High Volume): High-demand products with an RRP of $50+, supported by Australian-managed technology
Key Responsibilities
Deep Market Research
- Utilize tools like Google Trends, marketplace platforms, and specialised software to identify trending and high-potential products in the Australian market.
- Analyze customer pain points, assess problem severity, and estimate how much customers are willing to pay for solutions (financial or time savings).
- Conduct competitive analysis to evaluate current high-selling products and emerging growth trends.
- Compile a detailed product matrix summarising key metrics: potential sales, profit margins, risks, and advertising costs (Google Ads,
- Estimate customer acquisition costs and analyse certification requirements for the Australian market.
Product Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, primarily in China, through background checks on reputation and reliability.
- Negotiate with suppliers on key terms: Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), pricing, lead times, payment terms, and product certifications.
- Ensure supplier compliance with Australian market standards and secure necessary certifications (or negotiate certification support in exchange for exclusivity).
- Coordinate independent quality assurance (QA) inspections and negotiate spare parts and warranty terms.
- Secure exclusivity agreements or profit-sharing arrangements to protect market position and foster supplier collaboration.
