Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our technical team through the critical pre-opening phase and ensure the optimal functioning of all hotel facilities and systems.
This role will be responsible for establishing the engineering department, overseeing its daily operations, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring all systems meet the safety and sustainability standards required by the brand and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance plans for critical systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety.
• Lead and coordinate the technical team to ensure efficient operations across all areas of the hotel.
• Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute facility renovations and upgrades.
• Ensure the hotel’s facilities comply with both local and international safety and sustainability standards.
• Oversee and manage the engineering department budget, optimizing costs without compromising quality.
• Maintain effective communication with management and other departments to support all operational activities, especially during pre-opening.
Requirements:
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar position within luxury hospitality, ideally with pre-opening experience.
• Sub-Saharan African experience mandatory.
• Fluency in Spanish (highly necessary); proficiency in French and English is preferred.
• Proven experience in team management and leadership within a multicultural setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations, facility maintenance, and energy management.
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
