Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join our team in the Philippines to oversee the creation of comprehensive design packages for industrial wastewater treatment systems. The Design Engineer will work under the direction of our U.S.-based design team and will be responsible for coordinating with a local drafting team of 1-3 CAD Draftsmen. This role involves leading the design process, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and finalizing all technical documentation, including 2D and 3D drawings, general arrangement, design calculations, and detailed fabrication drawings.

The Design Engineer will serve as the point of contact for the drafting team in the Philippines, ensuring effective communication, smooth workflows, and timely delivery of final designs to company leadership. This is a contract position with competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the creation of full design packages for industrial wastewater treatment systems, including 2D and 3D drawings, general arrangement, design calculations, P&IDs, and detailed fabrication drawings.
- Take design instructions and project requirements from U.S.-based designers and translate them into actionable plans for the Philippines-based drafting team.
-Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of 1-3 CAD Draftsmen, providing guidance and ensuring quality control throughout the design process.
- Review and validate design calculations and technical drawings to ensure they meet regulatory standards, industry best practices, and project specifications.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for wastewater technologies including MBR, MBBR, SBR, DAF systems, clarifiers, sludge handling, GAC filters, UV disinfection, and disc filters.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general arrangement and fabrication drawings to meet project schedules.
Communicate regularly with the drafting team to clarify design goals, resolve issues, and maintain project timelines.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the U.S.-based design team and the Philippines-based drafting team, ensuring smooth communication and handoff of deliverables.
- Prepare final design packages for review and approval by the company’s leadership team, making any necessary revisions or improvements as needed.
- Maintain organized records of all design documents, drawings, calculations, and related technical materials.
- Ensure compliance with local and international design codes, regulations, and environmental standards relevant to wastewater treatment projects.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on industrial wastewater treatment systems.

Technical Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software. Familiarity with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Inventor is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes such as MBR, MBBR, SBR, clarifiers, DAF systems, sludge handling, GAC filters, UV disinfection, and disc filters.
- Experience with design calculations related to flow, pressure, and system sizing in industrial processes.
- Competence in generating P&ID, process flow diagrams, and general arrangement drawings.
- Familiarity with structural, mechanical, and civil design related to industrial systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant standards, such as ASME, ASTM, and environmental regulations.

Leadership Skills:
- Experience managing a small team of draftsmen or technical personnel.
- Strong communication skills to ensure smooth coordination between U.S.-based designers and the local drafting team.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in the design and construction of industrial wastewater treatment plants.
- Experience in coordinating with international teams and handling cross-functional communication.
- Knowledge of environmental and regulatory standards specific to wastewater treatment in the Philippines is a plus.
