JOB OVERVIEW

C. Position Overview:
Cryptic Labs LLC, a leading blockchain technology company specializing in security, privacy, and trust solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team.
As the DPO, you will be responsible for ensuring our company’s compliance with data protection regulations, implementing robust data protection policies and procedures, and safeguarding the privacy and protection of the data of our employees, customers, and stakeholders.
This is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of data privacy laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.

D. Responsibilities:

1. Data Protection and Privacy Policies:

• Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct audits to monitor compliance and collaborate with legal teams to address data protection issues.
• Ensure compliance for third-party vendors and update policies as necessary.

2. Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Mapping:

• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and perform data mapping to identify privacy risks.
• Develop and implement mitigation strategies and regularly update DPIAs and data mapping exercises.
• Monitor emerging technologies for privacy impacts.

3. Data Subject Rights and Consent Management:

• Manage processes for data subject requests (e.g., access, erasure) and obtain and manage consent for data processing.
• Ensure compliance with consent requirements and periodically review processes.

4. Training and Awareness:

• Provide regular training on data protection and regulatory requirements.
• Develop specialized training for high-risk data processing and integrate data protection into onboarding.

5. Security Incident Management and Breach Response:

• Develop and maintain an incident response plan and coordinate with teams to manage breaches.
• Conduct post-incident reviews and implement prevention measures.

6. Vendor Management:

• Implement a vendor management program to assess and monitor data protection practices.
• Review and negotiate data processing agreements and conduct regular compliance audits.

7. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

• Maintain an inventory of data protection laws and serve as the contact for regulatory authorities.
• Prepare reports on data protection activities and incidents.

8. Privacy by Design and Data Governance:

• Integrate privacy by design principles into product development and implement data governance frameworks.
• Monitor and recommend improvements for data governance compliance.

9. General Recommendation:

• Recommend strategies to management for enhancing overall data protection practices, addressing compliance gaps, and improving privacy and security measures across the organization.

E. Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related field such as information security, data protection, law, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with software for preparing reports and presentations
• Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a similar role, preferably in a technology or data-driven organization.
• In-depth knowledge of global data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other regional frameworks.
• Familiarity with privacy-by-design principles and practical implementation strategies.
• Strong understanding of data security, encryption, anonymization techniques, and data lifecycle management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and manage privacy risks effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) are highly desirable.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing, and their implications for data protection is a plus.
