Insert Coin is Canada’s leading accounting & tax consulting firm for the video game industry.
WHO WE ARE:
As a forward-thinking accounting and tax firm, our culture uniquely aligns with the innovative spirit of the gaming and technology industries we serve across Canada. We are a modern, fully cloud-based firm utilizing the latest technology stack to deliver exceptional service to our clients. Specializing in accounting and tax credit consulting for independent game studios, we have cultivated a dedicated and expanding client base due to our deep understanding of their business and industry needs.
Unlike traditional accounting firms, we foster a dynamic and engaging work environment, free from conventional formalities. Our approach is that of a startup, emphasizing collaboration, efficiency, and exceptional client service. We are looking for people who share these same values and can contribute to our mission of exceeding client expectations.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Bookkeeping - Day-to-day bookkeeping will be the core of this role. You’ll be performing reconciliation of our clients’ books, and working with clients to ensure their books are up-to-date and accurate.
Payroll - Helping clients run their payroll smoothly, including setting up new employees, managing taxable benefits and deductions, communicating with Wagepoint to resolve payroll discrepancies or questions, and preparation of ROEs as well as T4/RL-1 filings.
Sales Tax Filings - you’ll be preparing sales tax returns, including the GST/HST return and any provincial tax return (QST, PST etc.) You’ll also help in preparing the required information and responses for any audits by CRA or provincial tax agencies.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Experience with Bookkeeping & Payroll - you must have at least two years of experience with bookkeeping, payroll processing and sales tax filings. Bonus points if you’ve familiar with Xero/QBO or have a Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation (PCP).
Communication - We’re looking for someone who is comfortable communicating directly with clients. Our clients are not familiar with accounting & tax terms, so they value someone who can talk to them at their level. You should be able to leave any accounting or tax jargon at the door and explain things like a normal human. Bonus points if you are fluent in French.
Attention to Detail - we care about producing a clean, beautiful set of books for our clients. To us, our trial balances and statements are works of art.
Tech-Savvy - since all our work is done on the cloud, you should be comfortable with learning and using cloud accounting & payroll apps, including Xero, QBO, Dext, and Wagepoint. You’re able to talk to clients about tech on their level, and do some basic troubleshooting before escalating to customer support, if needed.
Self-starter - you require minimal supervision and take responsibility for getting the work done. You ensure that the work gets completed on time. You also know where to look or whom to ask when you're not sure about something.
Education – you possess an accounting diploma or higher.
