Role: Bookkeeper
Work Arrangement: Work from home
Schedule: Night shift

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in the construction industry who is looking to contribute to a fast-paced and supportive work environment.

As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with tax and payroll regulations. You will work closely with our internal team and external vendors, providing essential financial insights to help drive the success of our projects and business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and vendor accounts monthly. Resolve discrepancies.
Maintain and organize general ledger accounts for accurate reporting.
Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements.
Manage client billing and ensure timely collections.

Payroll Administration:
Prepare and process weekly or bi-weekly payroll for employees and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and tax regulations.

Construction-Specific Duties:
Track job costs and allocate expenses to specific projects.
Manage lien waivers, and subcontractor agreements, and ensure compliance with retention policies.
Assist project managers with financial data related to ongoing projects.

Compliance and Reporting:
Prepare financial reports, including profit/loss statements and balance sheets, for management review.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings.
Collaborate with external accountants for audits and year-end reporting.

Administrative Support:
Assist with budgeting and forecasting for upcoming projects.
Maintain accurate records of insurance certificates, licenses, and permits.
Provide support for procurement and inventory management.

Qualification and requirements:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax laws and payroll regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and vendors.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
