Backend Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with a strong passion for server-side development, API design, and scalable architecture. In this role, you will lead the backend efforts of our digital solutions, working closely with AI technologies to create intelligent, secure, and high-performance applications. Key Responsibilities:
Backend API Development: Design and build robust, scalable APIs using Node.js, Go, and Python, integrating with complex AI systems and external data sources. Provide server-side logic for user-facing elements.
Cloud Solutions & Architecture: Architect and develop cloud-based solutions using AWS offerings like API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, and experience with AWS SAM for building and deploying APIs. Ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
AI Workflow Integration: Implement AI-driven workflows to enhance backend processes using tools like LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face, or similar frameworks.
Database Management: Create and manage database schemas to support business processes, ensuring seamless integration between multiple data sources and backend systems.
Security & Compliance: Implement user authentication and authorization across distributed systems using industry standards such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect. Ensure accessibility and web security compliance.
API Standards & Documentation: Design well-documented APIs following best practices, utilizing standards such as Swagger or RAML for clear and consistent documentation.
Automated Testing & CI/CD: Develop and maintain automated testing platforms, including unit and integration tests. Lead efforts in continuous integration and delivery pipelines for reliable deployments.
Collaborative Development: Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to align backend solutions with project goals.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Backend & Cloud Expertise: Proven experience with backend development using Node.js and Go, with a strong understanding of asynchronous programming and related design patterns. Experience in deploying and managing services on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
AI & Data Integration: Experience working with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face, and integrating AI workflows into backend systems.
Security & Scalability: Solid understanding of security compliance and scalable architecture design principles for building high-performance services.
Database Design: Experience with designing and managing database schemas using SQL and NoSQL databases to support complex business processes.
Version Control & DevOps: Proficiency in using code versioning tools like Git and Bitbucket. Familiarity with container technology (e.g., Docker), Linux distributions, and Agile or DevOps methodologies.
Infrastructure & Networking: Familiarity with basic networking principles and infrastructure design to support the development of scalable services and APIs.
Problem-Solving Mindset: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to solving backend challenges with creative and scalable solutions.

Additional Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of backend development experience, with a focus on API design and scalability.
Experience with automated testing, unit testing, integration testing, and monitoring of backend systems.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on innovation and client needs.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
