Backend Engineer

About Us: We are a U.S.-based business incubator/accelerator focused on tech and software-driven ventures. We are currently seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions in a variety of sectors.

Job Description: As a Backend Engineer, you'll develop and maintain server-side applications, ensuring they are scalable and reliable. You’ll oversee the full software development process, from planning to release.

***Responsibilities:***
- Design and develop scalable backend solutions using Java.
- Contribute to software and database design.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality standards.
- Write unit and integration tests following test-driven development.
- Follow best practices and document code.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to understand business needs.
- Take ownership of projects from development to deployment.

***Qualifications:***
- Good spoken and written English.
- 3+ years of experience in Java web application development.
- Familiarity with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and testing.
- Ability to work independently with self-direction.
- Open and receptive to feedback.

***Nice to Have:***
- Experience with the Spring Boot framework.
- Knowledge of building and maintaining microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
- Experience with Firebase, AWS, Azure.
- Exposure to Node.js, Python, Supabase, and PostgreSQL.
