We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant with a minimum of 3 years of experience working within Australian companies to oversee Accounts Payable (AP), payroll, and month-end financial processes. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with Australian regulations (GST, PAYG, payroll tax, Superannuation) while delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Reporting to the Finance Manager and CFO, you will play a key role in shaping financial processes, driving efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong analytical thinking, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) processes, including invoice coding, payment runs (EFT), and vendor reconciliations.
- Process payroll for Australian employees, ensuring compliance with PAYG, payroll tax, Superannuation, and leave entitlements.
- Prepare and lodge IAS (Instalment Activity Statement), STP (Single Touch Payroll), and payroll tax reports.
- Execute month-end tasks: journals (accruals, prepayments), reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Analyze payroll and AP data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost optimization.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to Australian tax laws (GST, PAYG, payroll tax) and Superannuation obligations.
- Support audits by preparing accurate payroll/AP records and resolving queries.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes impacting payroll and AP.
Process Improvement
- Proactively identify inefficiencies in AP/payroll workflows and implement solutions.
- Streamline data manipulation and reporting using advanced Excel skills.

Skills and Qualifications
- Mandatory: 3+ years of experience in accounting roles within Australian companies, with expertise in AP, payroll, and month-end processes.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) for data analysis and reporting.
- Technical knowledge of Australian payroll tax, GST, IAS, and STP.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Wageloch).
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business (preferred).
