PV Designer (U.S. Solar Projects)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
Registered Electrical Engineer (U.S. PE license preferred).
Minimum 2 years of experience designing solar PV systems (residential, commercial, or utility-scale).
Hands-on experience with solar PV design tools such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, SolarEdge Designer, or similar.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of solar PV system components, configurations, and installation practices.
Expertise in U.S. permitting processes, including NEC, local AHJ requirements, and interconnection regulations.
Familiarity with U.S. industry standards (NEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, ASCE).
Strong understanding of grid-tied, off-grid, and hybrid solar power systems.
Proficiency in electrical load calculations, system sizing, and shading analysis.
Experience with energy storage solutions, battery integration, and backup power systems.
Ability to create NEC-compliant electrical diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and panel schedules.
Familiarity with racking and mounting systems, grounding methods, and wire management.
Experience in structural analysis for rooftop and ground-mount solar installations.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting and optimizing designs.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with project managers, clients, AHJs, and contractors.
Ability to create detailed technical documentation, engineering reports, and permit packages.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel for site assessments, inspections, and engineering support.
Understanding of interconnection processes with utilities, net metering policies, and compliance requirements.
