# FileMaker Pro Developer - Internal Database Design

I run a growing IT company with a passion for all things tech. We love to help people get the most out of their tech. We specialize in Apple products, but we can provide most IT services (aside from hardware repairs). Whether it's managing IT for businesses, troubleshooting home devices, or offering friendly training one-on-one or in a group setting, we aim to provide flexible, customized solutions for our customers.

With over 20 years in the game, I've worn a lot of hats, and now it's time to grow the team. Business is booming, only limited by staff and tooling. I'm looking for someone with deep FileMaker Pro expertise to help us develop an internal database system that will streamline our operations and task management. As we grow, we need better systems to track and delegate work efficiently.

## IMMEDIATE GOALS

Here are some of our short-term business needs:

• Familiarize yourself with our homegrown FileMaker database that tracks clients, cases, and tasks
• Build upon our simple case management system with time tracking, prioritization, and followup features
• Build support for repeatable processes with conditional branching so we can thoroughly document work we’ve completed and ensure consistency
• Create intuitive interfaces that prioritize usability and reduce training time for new staff
• Develop automated workflows that streamline common processes like task delegation and follow-up reminders
• Integrate the database with APIs such as Stripe and Addigy
• Create a scalable foundation that can grow with our company

## MUST-HAVE SKILLS

### Top-Notch Communication

While technical expertise is key, documenting your work clearly and professionally is just as important:

• Document everything
Whether it's database schema decisions, workflow automations, or implementation notes, clear documentation keeps things organized for the team.

• Build a knowledge base
You'll be expected to create comprehensive guides for the database system, including troubleshooting resources and best practices for data entry.

• Communicate professionally
You'll need to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff, gather requirements effectively, and provide regular progress updates in clear, accessible language.

### Technical Ability

You don't need to know everything — nobody does, and we learn along the way — but you need to have solid FileMaker Pro expertise. In your response, please highlight your experience with:

• FileMaker Pro development
• Creating user-friendly interfaces with a focus on usability
• Building custom functions and scripts to automate workflows
• Designing database schemas that perform well over the network
• Implementing security protocols appropriate for business data

## OPTIONAL SKILLS
