JOB OVERVIEW

Position Summary:
The Power BI Data Analyst will play a critical role in transforming raw data into actionable insights for our organisation. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and Power BI Report Writer, enabling customers to make data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of data visualization principles, and a passion for uncovering hidden patterns and trends within complex datasets.

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Visualization:
o Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and Power BI Report Writer to visualize operational data, key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.
o Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
o Create compelling visualizations that effectively communicate data insights to diverse audiences, including executives, managers, and end-users.
o Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all reports and dashboards.

Data Modelling and ETL:
o Develop and maintain data models within Power BI, utilizing DAX for calculations and measures.
o Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from various data sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
o Optimize data models for performance and scalability.
o Understand and utilize Power Query for data transformation.
o Experience developing data models for with Row Level Security

Azure and AWS:
o Familiarity with Azure services including Power BI Embedded, Subscription management, Function Apps, Gateways, Automations and Runbooks
o Familiarity with AWS services including Lambda/Python scripting, RDS (Postgres), EventBridge scheduler
o Experience using tools such as Postman

Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with customers to understand business requirements and translate them into effective Power BI solutions.
o Communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences through presentations and reports.
o Work with application teams to ensure data accessibility and availability.

Maintenance and Improvement:
o Monitor and maintain existing Power BI reports and dashboards, ensuring their accuracy and performance.
o Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation.
o Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices.
o Document all processes and procedures related to Power BI development and maintenance.

Data Governance:
o Adhere to data governance policies and procedures.
o Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Experience:
o 3+ years of experience in data analysis and visualization, with a strong focus on Power BI.
o Proven experience in developing and maintaining complex Power BI dashboards and reports.
o Experience with data modelling, ETL processes, DAX and Power Query.
o Experience with Postgres and relational databases.

Skills:
o Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
o Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Strong communication and presentation skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Strong understanding of relational database concepts and Postgres.
