As the Search Optimisation Specialist for Global Experiences, you will play a key role in enhancing organic visibility, fine-tuning on-page SEO strategies, and aligning content across multiple brands with unique goals and challenges. We’re looking for someone analytical and experimental, ready to dive into keyword strategy, on-page optimisation, content planning, and technical SEO fixes.
You will be working closely with our SEO and marketing team, social media, and development teams to ensure best practices and drive meaningful results. Below is a list of some of the key responsibilities associated with the role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Link Building & Authority Enhancement
A major part of your role will involve reaching out to relevant websites or partners with strong domain authority and requesting backlinks to our domains (primarily to product pages). Some partnerships are quid pro quo: we reciprocate for these links by linking to them from one of our high-traffic blog posts. Other partnerships are financial: we pay for relevant backlinks that remain live for an indefinite period.
As part of the SEO team, you will help develop and execute backlink strategies tailored for each brand, particularly for Rome with Chef, which, given the limited scope of topics it can cover, relies on high-quality backlinks to boost its domain authority. We will also work to identify opportunities for strategic link acquisition and content collaboration to enhance organic reach.
2. Keyword Strategy & Content Optimization Across 3 Brands
The SEO team is primarily responsible for improving organic traffic and keyword rankings for the Carpe Diem Tours, Tipsy Tours and Rome with Chef websites. Much of this process involves researching & publishing blog content based around informational and transactional keywords identified through AHREFs and funneling traffic from blog posts to product pages. Because curating content is as important as creating it, we also address fluctuations in blog post rankings by optimising existing content – ensuring it is factually up-to-date and useful, as per Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines.
Periodically, we will perform audits on product pages, optimising on-page SEO by improving copy, distributing keywords, and submitting recommendations to the Developers regarding UX.
3. Technical SEO & User Experience
User Experience (UX): While the Development team is responsible for addressing UX and technical issues, those in the SEO team act as the “eyes on the ground”, identifying issues, proposing solutions, and requesting intervention, usually through the submission of IT Tickets.
Technical SEO: We use two main tools to evaluate the health of our websites: AHREFs and the Google Search Console. AHREFs conducts regular site audits which measure the health of our websites. Our job is to analyse these reports and address the issues identified – for example by fixing 404 or broken links, shortening title tags or meta tags which are too long (or indeed adding them where they are non existent), alt-tagging images, and even resizing, compressing and re-uploading images.
The Google Search Console measures Core Web Vitals, the core component in off-page SEO, which includes elements such as enhanced speed and user experience. While these issues fall within the remit of our Developers, we should monitor these measurements and ensure they are addressed in a timely fashion.
4. Regular Performance Monitoring & Reporting
At the end of each month, you will assist the SEO consultant in providing management with monthly reports, tracking keyword ranking shifts and logging the publication of new posts and significant updating of existing posts and product pages.
Desired Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong understanding of keyword research, on-page SEO, and technical SEO.
- Excellent writing skills and an ability to adapt tone according to brand and audience.
- Experience with AHREFs, Google Analytics, Search Console, and other relevant SEO tools.
- Ability to collaborate across departments, especially content and development.
- Proactive, with a focus on iterative improvements and experimentation.
Desired
- Good working knowledge of WordPress, Elementor, and the RankMath and Jet plugins.
- Familiarity of AI — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude (for drafts & ideas, never for the final product)
This role requires attention to detail, creativity in problem-solving, and a data-driven approach to maintain and grow our online presence across these diverse domains. It might seem like a lot to take in, but don’t worry — you won’t be alone. You’ll be working closely with the SEO Consultant and marketing team, who are always happy and on hand to help with anything.
