We’re looking for a meticulous, proactive researcher to help identify and document inspirational entrepreneurs, business leaders, and other impactful individuals across the UK and beyond for a book project.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
This book will highlight entrepreneurs, business leaders, and individuals who have made a significant impact—whether in their industry, community, or beyond.
THEY MAY BE:
- High-profile individuals who have shaped their sector.
- Lesser-known figures who have achieved extraordinary things in their field but are not widely recognised.
- People who have succeeded against all odds, overcoming barriers to create meaningful change.
- While well-known figures can be included, we are particularly passionate about uncovering hidden stories—those making a real, on-the-ground impact who may not yet be household names.
YOUR ROLE:
- Identify at least 300 potential candidates per chapter, covering different regions and sectors.
- Conduct in-depth research using websites, newspapers, social media, and other sources.
- Find and collect accurate contact details, including:
-
- Official website and social media links.
- Write a concise summary (precis) of each individual’s achievements and why they fit the book.
- Enter all findings into a structured spreadsheet for easy reference.
This is not a basic data-entry role—it requires initiative, deep research, and the ability to recognise truly remarkable individuals.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Exceptional research skills—you must be able to go beyond simple Google searches.
- A proactive approach—you won’t just be given names; you’ll need to find and justify them.
- Fluent English writing skills to summarise achievements clearly and concisely.
- Attention to detail—accuracy in both research and data entry is crucial.
- Ability to verify contact information and ensure legitimacy.
- AI can be used to refine responses, but the research and justifications must be in your own words.
APPLICATION TASK:
- As part of the interview process, please complete the following:
- Define in your own words what makes a person inspirational and worthy of inclusion in this book.
- Find four inspirational individuals based in Birmingham, UK who fit this definition.

- A short justification explaining why you chose them.
While they can be well-known, we thrive on uncovering stories of people who are not in the public eye—those who are making a real difference in their field or community but may not yet be widely recognised.
The book will feature inspirational figures from the UK and beyond, but this task will test your ability to discover and research lesser-known, high-impact individuals in Birmingham.
This part-time role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, independent, and passionate about research and storytelling. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
