Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Accounting & Compliance Lead to oversee our bookkeeping, accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will be responsible for leading a team of bookkeepers and accountants to ensure accurate financial records, timely tax filings, and full regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in various types of taxation, including corporate taxes, indirect taxes (VAT/GST), payroll taxes, and international tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage a team of bookkeepers and accountants, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
- Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for the team.
- Oversee workload distribution and ensure all deadlines are met.

Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping, financial record-keeping, and reconciliations.
- Maintain and improve accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, including corporate tax, VAT/GST, payroll tax, and international taxation (if applicable).
- Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of tax returns.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, advising the CFO and leadership on potential impacts.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies as needed.

Accounts Payable & Financial Controls
- Supervise accounts payable processes to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.
- Implement financial controls to ensure compliance and reduce risks.
- Maintain good relationships with suppliers and oversee payment scheduling.

Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare, review, and present financial statements, tax reports, and compliance documents.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CFO for decision-making.
- Collaborate with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification is a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management.
- Proven experience in handling different types of taxation, including corporate tax, VAT/GST, payroll tax, and international tax compliance.
- Strong leadership experience in managing a team of accountants or bookkeepers.
- Excellent knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and financial reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills
- Experience in managing taxation across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with the CFO, tax authorities, auditors, and internal teams.
- Experience in process improvement and automation for compliance and accounting workflows.
