Are you a methodical and pragmatic bookkeeper with a passion for supporting the arts? We are seeking an experienced finance professional to manage the day-to-day finance and bookkeeping functions for our music school. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic educational environment while ensuring smooth financial operations.

About the Role
In this key position, you will oversee all bookkeeping and finance functions, ensuring the efficient management of the school’s financial health. You will work closely with the school’s directors to provide accurate financial reporting and insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day finance and bookkeeping functions, ensuring accurate financial records.
Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts to support financial planning.
Process payroll for tutors and staff in a timely manner.
Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including student tuition payments.
Prepare and file GST, PAYE, and other tax-related tasks.
Reconcile student payments and ensure accurate financial tracking of lesson fees.
Manage cash flow requirements, ensuring financial stability during seasonal fluctuations.
Handle financial aspects of student enrolments, withdrawals, and refunds.
Assist with financial audits and compliance requirements.
Prepare financial statements and process monthly journals.

To Succeed in This Role, You Must Have:

Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar finance role, ideally in an education or service-based business.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial practices.
Proficiency in MYOB for accounting and payroll management.
High level of trustworthiness and discretion when handling financial data.
Strong attention to detail and excellent reconciliation skills.
The ability to manage financial processes efficiently in a dynamic environment.
