Overview
We are a commercial real estate brokerage seeking a GIS & Mapping Specialist with strong ArcGIS skills to produce high-quality, data-driven maps and visualizations. Initially, this will be a part-time role (around 10 hours per week), but we anticipate expanding to a full-time position as our project load grows. The ideal candidate is passionate about using geospatial analysis to uncover insights, present demographic data, and support marketing materials for a wide range of commercial properties. If you can create beautiful, professional maps and love digging into complex demographic or market data, we’d love to talk with you!
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Analysis
Gather, organize, and analyze demographic, geographic, and market data using ArcGIS (or other GIS platforms).
Maintain a current library of data layers (e.g., population density, income levels, traffic counts, competition analyses) relevant to commercial real estate properties.
Map Creation & Visualization
Develop visually compelling maps for marketing packages, investor presentations, and internal decision-making.
Incorporate brand guidelines to ensure all maps have a professional and cohesive aesthetic.
Use geospatial analytics to identify trends, highlight property attributes, and communicate location advantages.
Custom Project Work
Collaborate with brokers and the marketing team to create custom maps showcasing property boundaries, trade areas, competitor footprints, zoning, and other relevant site details.
Provide ad-hoc analyses such as drive-time studies, heat maps, and thematic maps to support feasibility studies or site selection.
Quality Control & Data Management
Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data sources; regularly update and archive GIS datasets.
Standardize workflows for collecting, verifying, and distributing geospatial data.
Reporting & Documentation
Create comprehensive reports summarizing findings from demographic analyses or location studies.
Document data sources, methods, and assumptions for internal reference.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
Proficiency in ArcGIS (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online); comfortable with shapefiles, geodatabases, spatial analysis tools, etc.
Experience with demographic and market data relevant to commercial real estate (e.g., census data, traffic counts, consumer spending indexes).
Working knowledge of GIS fundamentals (coordinate systems, geoprocessing, geocoding).
Mapping & Design
Demonstrated ability to create visually appealing, professional maps—from thematic to site-specific.
Familiarity with cartography best practices (labeling, color schemes, layout) and an eye for detail/aesthetics.
Analytical Mindset
Comfortable interpreting data and communicating insights (both visually and verbally).
Ability to transform raw geospatial datasets into actionable intelligence for marketing and sales teams.
Soft Skills
