E-commerce Website Performance Engineer (WordPress Specialist)

Job Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled WordPress engineer to optimize and enhance the performance of our e-commerce store. The ideal candidate should be an expert in WordPress development, performance optimization, and user experience testing. Your role will be to ensure the website runs smoothly, loads quickly, and provides an optimal user experience across desktop and mobile devices.

Key Responsibilities:

Speed Optimization: Significantly improve the website's performance on both desktop and mobile, aiming for a high Google PageSpeed Insights score.

System Updates & Maintenance: Perform a comprehensive bundle update, including WordPress core, all plugins (including Elementor), and other dependencies while ensuring compatibility and functionality.

UI/UX Testing: Manually test the website on desktop, tablet, and mobile to identify and fix any UI/UX issues.

Best Practices Compliance: Analyze and resolve issues flagged under the Best Practices tab in Google PageSpeed Insights.

Heatmap & User Behavior Tracking: Install and configure Microsoft Clarity to monitor and analyze user interactions on the site.

Website Migration: Migrate the website to Hetzner hosting, ensuring minimal downtime and a smooth transition.

Implement lazy loading for images and videos.

Minimize and optimize JavaScript & CSS files.

Leverage browser caching and optimize server response times.

Improve database efficiency through indexing and cleanup.

Ensure website security and protection against vulnerabilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience in WordPress development and optimization for e-commerce sites.

Strong expertise in performance tuning, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals.

Experience with Google PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, and other performance tools.

Hands-on experience with Elementor and plugin management.

Knowledge of server management, DNS configurations, and website migrations.

Experience with Microsoft Clarity or other heatmap tools is a plus.

Familiarity with Hetzner hosting and migration processes.

Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot UI/UX issues.
