Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced MEP & Fire Safety Engineer to handle the mechanical (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and utility site planning for a modular building project. The ideal candidate should have experience in modular or prefabricated construction and be proficient in designing fully code-compliant MEP and fire safety systems that meet Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) requirements.

This role will work closely with the Architect & Structural CAD Designer to integrate all MEP and utility systems into the overall design package.

Key Responsibilities

? Mechanical (HVAC) Design:

Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for the modular building.
Specify duct layouts, equipment placement, and airflow calculations.
Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards and UFC guidelines.

? Electrical Design:

Develop wiring diagrams, breaker panel locations, and lighting layouts.
Design emergency lighting, exit signage, and grounding systems.
Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and UFC electrical standards.

? Plumbing Design:

Create water supply, drainage, and venting system layouts.
Specify pipe sizes, fixture placements, and connections.
Ensure compliance with International Plumbing Code (IPC) and UFC guidelines.

? Fire Protection & Safety:

Design fire suppression systems (sprinklers, smoke detectors, extinguishers, and alarms).
Ensure proper placement of egress pathways, emergency exits, and fire-rated components.
Verify compliance with International Fire Code (IFC) and NFPA standards.

? Site Utilities & Preparation:

Develop a Utility Site Plan showing water, sewer, gas, and electrical connections.
Coordinate with the Architect & Structural CAD Designer to integrate utility connections into the site plan.
Provide grading and drainage recommendations for site preparation.

? Technical Documentation & Compliance:

Annotate all construction plans with MEP and fire safety notes for permitting and approval.
Ensure compliance with UFC, NEC, IPC, ASHRAE, IFC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers, builders, and code officials.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

???? Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, or Civil Engineering.
???? 5+ years of experience in MEP & fire safety design (modular or prefabricated construction preferred).
???? Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, or similar software.
???? Strong knowledge of UFC, NEC, IPC, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.
???? Experience with utility planning and civil site coordination.
???? Ability to collaborate with architects, structural designers, and regulatory authorities.
