JOB OVERVIEW

Job Summary:
OBH is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Virtual Assistant/Medical Biller to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth operation of our scheduling and billing systems, supporting both our clients and practitioners in their journey towards mental health and addiction recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

Call Handling:
Answer incoming calls with professionalism and empathy, addressing client inquiries about services, schedules, and general information.
Manage call triage, directing calls to the appropriate department or person when necessary.

Appointment Management:
Schedule new appointments and manage existing ones, including adjustments, cancellations, or rescheduling based on client needs and practitioner availability.
Confirm appointments through phone calls or emails to ensure high attendance rates.
Data Entry and Client Information Management:
Collect, update, and maintain accurate client records in the facility’s database, including personal information, treatment history, and contact details.
Gather and verify insurance information to ensure accurate billing.

Billing and Insurance:
Process medical billing for services rendered, including coding and submitting claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance providers.
Follow up on claims, handle denials, and ensure timely payments by resolving discrepancies or issues.
Maintain knowledge of current billing practices, insurance policies, and regulatory changes that affect billing.

Client Support:
Provide clear, compassionate communication to clients to facilitate their treatment process.
Assist clients in understanding their insurance coverage and billing responsibilities.
Administrative Support:
Prepare necessary documentation for client appointments and billing.
Coordinate with clinicians and other administrative staff to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Billing, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a mental health or addiction treatment setting.
Proficient in using medical billing and scheduling software; experience with EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer service orientation.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
Knowledge of with Medicare, Medicaid, and major insurance carriers' billing practices.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.

Additional Information:
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
