About Us:

Travel Buddies GmbH is a leading, digitally-driven travel operator based in Berlin. With our expertise in travel and technology, we deliver exceptional experiences to our customers. To support our growing international team, we are looking for a skilled accountant based abroad who can handle our accounting processes with precision and is eager to learn the specifics of German accounting.


Your Responsibilities:

Recording and Processing Transactions:

• Accurate pre-coding (Vorkontierung) and posting of accounts payable and receivable invoices in the accounting
system.

• Reviewing business transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with tax regulations.

Invoice and Payment Management:

• Managing the invoice intake process, including stamping, assigning to cost centers, and preparing for approval.

• Creating and processing outgoing invoices and credit notes.

• Reconciling open items, following up on payments, and managing dunning processes.

Preparatory Accounting:

• Preparing accounting documents for monthly and annual financial statements in collaboration with our German tax
advisor.

• Performing account reconciliations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank accounts.

• Maintaining master data (e.g., debtor, creditor, and general ledger accounts).

Process Optimization:

• Contributing to the automation and digitalization of invoicing processes.

• Identifying opportunities for improvement in preparatory accounting workflows.



Your Profile:

* Strong Accounting Knowledge: Experience working with accounting systems and a solid understanding of international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS; knowledge of HGB is a plus).
* Technical Precision: Ability to prepare, check, and process invoices accurately, including pre-coding to cost centers and accounts.
* Analytical Skills: A structured, detail-oriented approach and strong numerical skills.
* Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to master the specifics of German accounting, including VAT reporting, accounting frameworks (SKR 03/04), and financial principles.
* Software Expertise: Proficiency with accounting tools such as DATEV, SAP, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar systems. Familiarity with Excel and document management systems is a plus.
* Language Skills: Good command of English (written and spoken). German is a plus but not mandatory.
