Senior Backend Phyton Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with strong Python expertise to join our team. This developer will work on multiple backend projects supporting our mobile apps and web applications. The successful candidate will excel at rapid development while maintaining robust engineering practices, ensuring the scalability and security of our systems.


Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain backend services for multiple products and potentially future projects.
• Design and implement efficient and scalable database schemas using MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, with a focus on polymorphic database design.
• Build and maintain APIs using FastAPI and Django, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
• Integrate rate limiting, manage security settings, and implement clear documentation (e.g., via Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Set up and maintain dev and prod environments, handle deployments using Docker, and manage infrastructure on Digital Ocean (droplets, App Platform) and AWS.
• Collaborate using Git-based workflows and follow best practices in code reviews, CI/CD, and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with team members (in-person collaboration at the Makati office once per week initially) to ensure alignment and effective communication.

Requirements:
• Senior-level experience in backend development (5+ years).
• Strong Python skills (including Django, FastAPI).
• Solid understanding of MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and polymorphic database design.
• Knowledge of best practices in software engineering, including security, rate limiting, version control, and testing.
• Experience with Docker and familiarity with Digital Ocean and AWS services.
• Comfortable working in both startup-style rapid development environments and more traditional scaling scenarios.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Employment Details:
• Approximately 20 hours per week.
• Initial requirement to be onsite in the Makati office once a week for team syncing and collaboration (preferred but not necessary)
• Potential to expand responsibilities over time as new backend projects arise.
