Job Description
The following list of responsibilities for the Senior Property Accountant position should be viewed as the minimum expectation, and not an exhaustive list. Job functions may be added to or deleted from this job description as necessary.
Preparing journal entries/ Review simple journal entries
Reconciling intercompany accounts
Review and approve invoices for accuracy and coding.
Complying with accounting policies and procedures
Reviewing Monthly bank reconciliations
Maintaining general ledger for several properties
Reviewing - Monthly and Quarterly close process for several properties
Communicate with properties, lenders and JVs.
Reviewing Sales Tax Returns
Reviewing Management fees
Reviewing Compliances packages to lenders and JVs
Be able to read, interpret and abstract loan and lease documents
Keeping track of CIP projects and placing them in service when needed. Entering fixed assets and making sure that
depreciation is calculated correctly
Assist properties with training on A/P system and practices (as needed). Participate in internal audit to provide
recommendations for procedural improvements
Ad hoc projects and financial analysis
All other duties as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
Working knowledge of Excel
Have strong computer literacy skills.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be detail oriented and organized.
Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Master’s degree preferred (or equivalent)
MUST understand accrual basis accounting.
5 years of work experience with working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Commercial Real Estate Experience and Yardi software is a plus.
