About Us:
The New Mexico Short-Term Rental Association (NMSTRA) is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for and supporting the short-term rental industry in New Mexico. Our mission includes monitoring legislative processes, coordinating grassroots advocacy, and providing updates on public policy that affects the industry.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Virtual Assistant for 4 months to support the Public Policy Committee (PPC) during New Mexico's legislative session (January 18 to March 22, 2025). This is a part-time role requiring approximately 5 hours per week. The assistant will play a key role in legislative monitoring, communication coordination, and administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities: Legislative Monitoring, member communication, Board Communication

Job Duties:

- Set up and manage NMSTRA profiles on the legislative website (nmlegis.gov).
- Research to track pending bills, legislative actions, and committee updates related to short-term rental (STR) regulations.
- Notify the PPC Chair of relevant developments and hearings.

Coordination and Communication:
- Create and maintain an email distribution list of key stakeholders, including legislators, lobbyists, government departments, - and industry partners.
- Draft and send approved communications, including position papers, industry updates, and event announcements.

Content Management:
- Maintain organized records of emails, documents, and reports in NMSTRA’s shared cloud storage.
- Draft legislative updates and announcements for the NMSTRA website and social media platforms.

Reporting:
- Submit weekly reports summarizing legislative activities and PPC updates to the Chair and board members.
Work Schedule:

Schedule:
- 5 days a week (Sunday to Thursday), 1 hour per day (to start; may be increased if needed/agreed).
Preferred working hours: Before 10:30 AM or after 4:00 PM Mountain Time (adjusted for time zone differences).

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in legislative research, advocacy, or administrative support is a plus.
- Proficient in using email, Google Suite, and communication tools (Zoom, WhatsApp, etc.).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
