SEO specialist with Local SEO Agency

We’re a small SEO agency that focuses on local SEO and lead generation for service based businesses in Australia. We’re aiming to grow and expand in 2025, taking on more clients and adding new staff to our team.

Job Summary:
We are looking to take on a Junior SEO or SEO specialist that will join our in-house team. This full time position (possible part time if the fit is right) will predominantly involve managing the link building campaigns of many websites as well as assisting in creating workflows and processes. You must be proactive with a problem solving mindset and a strong understanding of SEO.

Responsibilities:
* Order link building services such as citations from freelancing platforms such as Legiit and Fiverr
* Order link building services from our preferred link vendors
* Check and maintain quality control on deliverables from freelancers
* Document deliverables from freelancers and vendors
* Index links
* Use tools like Ahrefs to analyse competitors’ backlink profiles in order to identify opportunities
* Find the best vendors and freelancers by testing them yourself
* Conduct outreach in order to build relationships with webmasters and bloggers for guest posts and link insertions
* Perform website audits using tools like Screaming Frog and Google Search Console to check for technical errors
* Create sheets from templates for new clients for tracking link building
* Create social profiles and emails using proxies
* Use photoshop/canva to edit images according to our SOPs
* Modify images for the website pages
* Create and schedule posts to social media and GBPs
* Help create workflows in Asana to automate task delegation
* Create and update SOPs as we develop new processes
* General tasks to streamline and optimise business operations
* Monitor website technical health, this includes mobile-friendliness, site speed, and sitemaps.

Over time, these responsibilities will change and alter as we develop processes and procedures. Be prepared to do different tasks that may not fall into a standard junior SEO role like working out the best way to use and update a password manager for the team or test online forums like Reddit for different opportunities.

Requirements:
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
* Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects effectively
* Strong understanding of SEO
* Be very proactive in looking for work as well as automating processes
* A passion for learning and SEO
* Experience using SEO tools like Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, SEMRush, Google Search Console and POP. We most commonly use Ahrefs
* Strong attention to detail
* Willingness to speak up and suggest better methods of operating
* Must be savvy and able to create solutions to problems. I have issues that I can’t dedicate time at the Upgrade to see actual infont to fixing. I need someone who I can provide an issue with and they can come back to me with ideas how we can fix it as well implement it

Example scenario of the type of individual I want to work with:
I want someone who has the understanding and knowledge of SEO to see gaps in our website’s SEO campaigns, and then find how to close those gaps and subsequently make it happen. For example, our 3 main competitors may have links from HiPages, a big lead generation/directory website in Australia.
You identify that we need a link from Hi pages. You will need to find out how we get that link. Do we have to pay to get a link? Is it possible to get it for free? Email them, search online, find out how much it will cost. Can you get it cheaper? Is there a way we can do a free trial and then cancel after and maintain the link? Will the link be permanent?
From there, you will tell me what we need to do or do it yourself.
After you've worked that out, implement this across our client sites and our website portfolio and create an SOP covering it.

The successful individual is the one who knows there is always a way, it’s just a matter of working out how.
