Power BI / QuickBooks Online Data Specialist

We’re looking for a highly skilled Power BI / QuickBooks Online Data Specialist to design and implement a scalable system for integrating financial data from over 200 QuickBooks Online accounts. Your work will power annual studies, monthly trend reports, and actionable insights, solidifying the company’s position as an industry authority.

This role requires advanced technical expertise in data integration, business intelligence tools, and financial analytics. The ideal candidate will excel at building systems that transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that inform strategy and shape industry benchmarks.

This is a project-based role with the potential for a monthly retainer to maintain and enhance the system.

What You’ll Do

Data Platform Selection & Implementation
- Research and recommend the most suitable data platform for integrating QuickBooks Online accounts with Power BI (e.g.,
Snowflake, Databricks, Mozart Data, Power BI QuickBooks Online Connector by Vidi, etc.).
- Present a detailed cost-benefit analysis of your recommendation, focusing on scalability, usability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the implementation and integration of the chosen platform, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient data flow.

Dashboard Development, Training, and Enrichment
- Set up foundational Power BI dashboards to visualize key financial metrics and benchmarks, including:
- Gross profit margin trends by revenue segment.
- Revenue-per-technician performance metrics.
- Impact of compensation models (hourly vs. production-based pay).
- Regional revenue and expense patterns.
- Provide training to internal staff on Power BI’s visualization capabilities, enabling the team to create, interpret, and adapt dashboards for ongoing needs.
- Identify and integrate additional data sources, such as end-client data from Experian, to enrich Power BI insights and add depth to financial analyses.
- Collaborate with the team to design workflows that update dashboards in real-time or on a regular schedule with minimal manual effort.
- Ensure dashboards are intuitive and accessible for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, promoting easy extraction of actionable insights.

Strategic Insight Generation & Optimization
- Maintain, refine, and scale data integration systems to meet evolving business needs.
- Adhere to data security and confidentiality standards across all workflows.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and custom visualizations.
- Proven experience integrating QuickBooks Online data into business intelligence platforms.
- Familiarity with leading platforms such as Power BI QuickBooks Online Connector by Vidi, Snowflake, Databricks, or Mozart
Data.
- Expertise in automating data workflows, ensuring data integrity, and managing large datasets.

Communication & Problem-Solving
- Strong ability to distill complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of data security best practices for financial data.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL or similar database querying tools.
