Junior O&M Engineer (Solar industry)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Remote Monitoring & Analysis: Continuously monitor inverter performance, solar farm health, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) status via a designated monitoring portal.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Download monthly reports, analyze data to identify any performance issues with the solar farm and BESS, and generate reports.
- Troubleshooting Support: Assist in identifying and diagnosing operational issues affecting the solar farm and BESS performance, escalating complex issues to senior engineers.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the Melbourne office and local field teams to coordinate solutions and repairs for both the solar farm and BESS.
- Technical Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of solar farm operations, inverter systems, basic BESS operation, and basic troubleshooting methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Available to start immediately.
- 1-2 years of experience in providing remote support for Australian renewable energy assets (preference for experience with solar farms or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)).
- Robust technical foundation, ideally with an engineering background, and the ability to comprehend technical concepts and data.
- Data analytical skills with complex data sets: proficient in Excel.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and industry standards, with a focus on Australian regulations pertinent to renewable energy.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with trade professionals and operational experience within an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) unit, including knowledge of day-to-day activities on a renewable energy site (familiarity with Australian O&M practices is advantageous).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, as well as maintain accurate documentation of system operations and maintenance activities.

Eligibility for Remote Work
- A device (laptop/desktop) with a minimum of at least Intel Core i-5 (or AMD equivalent) with 8GB RAM
- Minimum of 30MBPS internet speed

Nice to have qualifications:
- Knowledge of control relays and SCADA systems used in solar and BESS systems.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of large-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
- Proficiency in monitoring and analyzing data using Python scripts and Excel spreadsheets to identify areas for improvement in solar and BESS performance.
- Understanding of networking protocols, topologies, and equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls used in renewable energy data acquisition systems.
