Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer / Course Writer to develop the foundational outline and content structure for an online course aimed at life insurance agents who want to transition into a remote, flexible work model. This course will guide agents through the process of selling life insurance from anywhere, even overseas, giving them the freedom to work remotely and adopt a nomadic lifestyle.

This is a short-term, project-based role focused on the initial content outline and instructional design phase only, with an estimated workload of 20–30 hours over a two-week period. The position is part-time and will involve working closely with the course creator to transform their knowledge and vision into a structured, engaging course outline. This role may lead to further work based on project needs and mutual agreement, but there is no long-term commitment required beyond this phase.

Project Scope and Objectives

This course aims to teach life insurance agents how to:

Set up a remote sales model for life insurance

Manage compliance and communication challenges remotely

Build a client base, handle time zone differences, and balance work-life remotely

Embrace the flexibility of a location-independent lifestyle while maintaining professional success

As the instructional designer, your role is to create a course structure that clearly communicates these objectives and breaks down the material into actionable, easy-to-follow steps. You will work with the course creator to ensure the course is aligned with the needs of life insurance agents who want to live and work with freedom.

Key Responsibilities

1. Course Structure & Content Mapping

Develop a high-level course outline that organizes content into logical modules, lessons, and activities designed to help life insurance agents transition to remote work.

Collaborate with the course creator to understand their vision and goals for the course, translating this into a cohesive structure.

Identify key learning objectives for each module and lesson, ensuring the content flow builds knowledge progressively.

2. Scripting & Module Development

Write detailed lesson plans or scripts that will guide content creation, including specific talking points, activities, and potential student assessments.

Break down complex concepts into clear, practical steps that learners can easily apply.

3. Interactive Elements & Engagement Strategies

Suggest interactive and multimedia elements to enhance engagement, such as quizzes, worksheets, or real-life case studies.

Design strategies to reinforce learning, improve retention, and encourage active engagement with the material.

4. Research & Validation

Conduct industry research as needed to back up course content with relevant, real-world examples or case studies.

Recommend best practices in online education to ensure the course remains competitive and valuable.

5. Feedback & Iteration

Work closely with the course creator to incorporate feedback and adjust the course outline as necessary to meet educational goals.

Be open to refining the course structure based on initial feedback to maximize student engagement and comprehension.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in instructional design, course writing, or e-learning development, ideally with experience in business, finance, or sales.

Education: A background in education, instructional design, curriculum development, or related fields is preferred.

Skills:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable steps.

Excellent written communication skills, especially in creating concise, engaging, and instructional content.

Knowledge of online education best practices and adult learning principles.

Preferred Experience:

Familiarity with creating courses for sales professionals or knowledge of the life insurance industry.

Compensation and Project Timeline

Estimated Hours: 20–30 hours over two weeks

Total Compensation: $300–$450, based on an hourly rate of $10–$20/hour, depending on experience

Timeline: Expected project completion within two weeks of hire, with flexible hours.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and portfolio of previous work in instructional design or course writing, preferably with examples of courses or content related to remote work, sales, or life insurance. In your cover letter, briefly describe your approach to structuring an online course and any relevant experience that makes you a strong fit for this project.
