Job Description:
As a Pre Press Operator, you will be responsible for preparing digital artwork files for production, ensuring that all elements are optimized for print while maintaining the integrity of the creative vision. You will work closely with both the creative and production teams to ensure that all artwork, including murals, wallpapers, and repeat tiles, is prepared accurately and efficiently for large-format printing.
Your role will involve converting design files into print-ready formats, adjusting artwork elements, and conducting quality control checks to ensure all specifications are met. You will also collaborate with the sales team to customize artwork for specific client projects and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare print-ready files for large-format production, including checking and adjusting resolution, bleed, margins, and file formats.
Perform high-quality image editing, retouching, and colour correction in Adobe Photoshop to meet the requirements for print output.
Ensure all artwork files are optimized for both digital and large-scale print production while preserving quality and design integrity.
Convert RGB files to CMYK and manage colour profiles to ensure accurate and consistent colour reproduction across digital and print mediums.
Apply and modify Photoshop scripts to streamline pre press workflows, enhancing efficiency in file preparation and batch processing.
Create seamless pattern designs, ensuring they are properly aligned and formatted for large-scale printing applications, such as wallpapers and murals.
Collaborate with the design team to ensure the final output aligns with the project vision and technical specifications.
Work with the sales team to customize and modify artwork and wallpaper designs for specific client requirements and large-scale projects.
Conduct thorough quality control checks on all artwork files before they are sent for production, ensuring all technical and design elements meet company standards.
Use file enlargement techniques to maintain high resolution and print quality for large-format production.
Maintain an organized workflow, ensuring timely delivery of projects and keeping files properly archived.
Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the pre press process.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in pre press, print production, or a similar role, with a strong focus on digital file preparation for large-format printing.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, with a strong understanding of image manipulation, retouching, and file preparation.
In-depth knowledge of print production processes, file resolution, colour management, and pre press workflows.
Experience with Photoshop scripting and batch processing to improve production efficiency.
Strong attention to detail and an eye for ensuring consistent, high-quality outputs.
Ability to collaborate effectively with creative, sales, and production teams to meet deadlines and specifications.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot file-related issues.
Familiarity with large-format printing technologies and techniques is a plus.
