**** THIS IS A REPOST. PREVIOUSLY APPLICANTS WHO HAVE ALREADY APPLIED SHOULD NOT APPLY AGAIN ****
[ THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER JOB POSTING ]
There are a lot of uninspiring job listings on here, this is not one of them.
I can say this because in the not so distant past, I too have posted uninspiring job listings because back then, I wasn't intent on building a truly, spectacular world-class company.
I now dream of building a company so spectacular that eventually one day, a random stranger you meet on the streets would have heard and bought from us. You know, the type of company that one day, even your kids or grandkids or niece or nephew would love to shop at.
But to have any chance of turning this seemingly far-fetched dream into reality, I need to staff this company with an EXCEPTIONAL group of people who are competent, hard working, willing to grow, and hungry enough to make the necessary sacrifices to change their own financial future.
If you are not already or don't believe you have the potential to become the top 10% to top 1% in your field within a short period of time even with the right training, guidance, resources, and financial incentives, then STOP reading here and DO NOT APPLY.
If you are just looking for some job to pay the bills and planning on doing the bare minimum to get by to not get fired, DO NOT APPLY.
IF you aren't willing to work hard, don't consider yourself competent, and don't have a strong desire to massively improve your financial future, DO NOT APPLY.
If you don't resonate with increasingly taking on more responsibilities as an opportunity to grow professionally and financially, DO NOT APPLY.
If you can't think for yourself or aren't comfortable tackling challenging problems on your own, DO NOT APPLY.
If you do not have your personal life situation sorted out to allow you to prioritize work above pretty much everything else for a short period of your life, DO NOT APPLY.
If you are not hard on yourself and highly value excellence in your life, do not apply.
Still here? Then you just might be the right candidate.
[ COMPANY VISION ]
My vision is to build the world's first recognizable household name brand for mirrors in the coming decades. My vision is create the go to destination that people think about when they need to buy any mirror product. My vision is to have a chain of stores selling mirror products all across the world like an Ikea for furniture but for mirrors.
To realize this vision, if it is in fact possible to realize, will take multiple decades, possibly longer. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will the world's first recognizable mirror brand be as well. As you can imagine, this is an enormous undertaking and not for the faint of heart. Even with lots of time, ample capital and a fantastic team, there is still no guarantee of success. Despite this, if fate has it that the world will finally have its first household brand name for mirrors, it might as well be us. Are you going to be part of what will possibly be history?
{ CURRENT COMPANY STATUS )
After close to 10 years in the business of selling mirrors online, we are finally closing in on having sold a million mirrors to customers on Amazon internationally. A million customers may sound like a respectable number but in reality, we are just scratching the surface of what's possible. After all, when billions of people use or interact with some sort of mirror product directly or indirectly on a daily basis, a million isn't even one tenth of 1 percent of 1 billion, never mind 1% of the entire industry. That is why in order to realize my vision of creating the first ever household name brand for mirror products in all of human history, we have such a long way to go.
Currently, the company consists of me, a Canadian with a small team based in the Philippines. We've had people come and go over the years. The company has been profitable every year since its inception in 2016. Personally, I have reached my own financial goals already which was one of the main reasons behind why I founded this company almost a decade ago. But because I still have a lot of years left ahead of me and sitting by the beach gets boring after a while, I d
[ DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? ]
If you're still here, then probably something I wrote struck a chord with you. Maybe you've always been crazy ambitious, or borne with an entrepreneurial drive with no outlet? Maybe you consider yourself multi-talented but afraid you might squander it by working a dead end job for a dead end company with no upward mobility? Perhaps you have an excellent work ethic and drive and want to work for someone who not only values your growth but also inspires you to? Or perhaps you've always known or felt different than your peers because you value hard work, are inspired by greatness, have an insatiable curiosity, and want to be the best of the best? If any of this resonates with you on a deep level, then this job "might" be a good fit for you.
Warren Buffett recommends hiring for integrity, intelligence and energy. When I look at the people I've worked with in the past, those who I felt were the most capable and that I respect and vibe most with tend to score highly on these three traits. When I also assessed myself on these three traits, I'd say I probably will score better than most people as well. I don't expect you to be perfect in all 3 but if you can't say that you are someone who strongly prefers being honest with yourself and others, if you're not someone who is already or working towards to being exceptional in your chosen area(s) of expertise, AND you're not someone with the right life circumstances meaning you have the time, energy and motivation to work really hard for a few years (to set your own foundation up for a bright future), then you shouldn't apply.
As already mentioned, I want to build something exceptional with an exceptional team of people over a long period of time. I want to hire someone with an exceptional character as opposed to just exceptional skills. The truth is the skills and experience necessary for the job can be taught and acquired with enough time, effort and guidance by someone who is willing to put in the effort. One's character though in terms of your values, personality and beliefs, are not things I can teach or necessarily want to influence even if I could. In other words, I want to work with people who I feel I can easily connect and vibe with already because we have shared values, similar work ethics, and common goals (i.e mutual growth & prosperity). If I don't feel I can get along with you or you don't feel you can get along with me, even if you bring a ton of skills and experience to the table, culturally, it will be a bad fit and things may turn out poorly in the not so distant future due to incompatibility. This is not to say that everyone that joins the company eventually need to be a perfect fit. But because this job posting is for me to build a strong foundational team that I will be training and interacting directly, with there being one of me to go around, I can't afford the time and energy to train someone personally who will waste my time because they don't come with the right attitude, work ethic and expectations.
If everything you've read thus far sounds reasonable and you believe you are someone who largely meets my tough but reasonable criteria, you may then start wondering what positions are available in which case, I invite you to read the following section.
[JOB OPENINGS AND DESCRIPTION]
Currently, I have a small team of 4 people who manages the Amazon FBA side of our business but I hope to expand that to a team of 7 to 10 people within the next 6 months. Although the medium term plan (3 to 5 years from now) is to eventually enter into physical brick and mortar retail, in the short term, the goal is actually to continue to expand predominantly online so we have a even more solid foundation to further expand and fund our offline expansion plans.
For the online ecommerce part of the plan in the short term then, the following are all open job positions that you can currently apply for. The info in between the parentheses are meant to give you a very rough idea of the scope of work that you will be doing.
1. Ecommerce Platform Manager (Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, Shopify platforms)
2. Accounting, Legal and Compliance Officer (Are you someone who is comfortable dealing with all the accounting, legal, taxes and international compliance stuff that comes with selling in multiple countries?)
3. PPC Manager (Mainly Amazon PPC but also off-Amazon
4. Listing Optimization Specialist (Craft and optimize our Amazon pages via better copywriting, keyword research, SEO optimization, and multimedia creation to maximize conversion rate)
5. Creatives, Branding and PR Director (Determine how we present ourselves to the world through story telling, media, imagery, etc; create the creatives personally or by working with graphic artists)
6. SEO and Product Rankings Specialist (Amazon SEO, off-Amazon SEO for Amazon listings and our own website, product launches, promotions)
7. Social Media Marketing Manager (Launching and managing Youtube, Tiktok,
8. General Marketing Manager (Familiar with all aspects of online marketing from social media, SEO, PPC, paid media marketing,
9. Product Sourcing and Supply Chain Assistant (Work with overseas suppliers to source different mirror products; improve and ensure product quality; help with all aspects of supply chain from sourcing to production to logistics)
10. Product Developer/Product Manager (Identify industry market trends and work with overseas suppliers to design and come up with different product ideas and bring them to life)
11. Human Resources Director (Responsible for filtering through applicants, onboarding new tea
12. Chief Financial Officer or Chief Revenue Officer (Someone who understands how the right investments impact sales, margins, profits; someone who can identify and seal leaky buckets in the business; someone sees opportunity that others miss; someone who views the world in data and numbers)
13. Brand Manager / Chief Operations Manager (If I'm the "brains" of the company, then the person who fulfills this role will be the "heart". Ideally suited for someone with a high energy level, a "get things done" mentality, a strong intuition for business concepts and likes running a well oiled business machine. This person will be interacting on my behalf with all major positions of the company to run the business on a day to day basis and is essentially, the second in command.)
14. OTHER - If you've got immense talent and meet the criteria that I laid out above but don't think any of the job positions are an exact fit for your skill set, past work experience or career ambitions, you are still free to apply to see if I can fit you in elsewhere. I believe if you are a smart and hardworking individual, you can adapt and contribute in your own way so I'm leaving the door open for new roles in the company that may not exist if the right person comes along.
Even at our current team size of just 4 staff members, we are largely able to maintain our current level of operations. As such, a single job position may not have enough work to justify a full time schedule until the company reaches a larger size. If this is the case, you may be called upon to temporarily or semi-permanently fulfill multiple positions that are related to your original position. For example, someone who is suitable for the "Creatives, Branding and PR Director" role may naturally do well to take on the "Listing Optimization Specialist" role too as the type of work and skill set are quite similar. But to a certain extent, you are also expected to come up with profitable project ideas of your own to move the needle for the company and if you are capable of doing this, a single job position/title will suffice.
Remember, the right applicant should actually be ecstatic to have the opportunity to take on and learn more to grow their skill set and improve their future career prospects. As the founder, this is the same standard that I hold myself to which is to frame every new challenge as an opportunity to learn because to learn is to grow, and growing as a person is one of the main rewards of working besides the obvious monetary rewards. Therefore, every position that I'm hiring for, I already have a fairly strong (but not elite) level of understanding already. However, the right candidate should be able to pick up the things I teach you and exceed my own abilities in that area within a short 1 to 3 years. In fact, if you don't have the confidence in your ability to be better at me at something despite specializing in it for several years on almost a daily basis, you may not be right for the job.
[ PERKS & COMPENSATION DETAILS ]
As you might expect, depending on your position, your experience and your abilities, your starting pay will vary. But the right person in terms of values and cultural fit who can eventually grow into the job (i.e you come with limited work experience but learn quickly) should at the minimum, have the ambition to strive to earn a million PHP annually around their third year on the job. Someone who comes with the right skills and experience along with being the right person in terms of values and cultural fit may even strive to earn over a million PHP annually right from the start. Your compensation however ultimately depends on what you're able to contribute. You should strive to make contributions that more than pay for your salary because no company can survive for long if every new staff member contributes less than they're paid.
Our compensation structure comprises of a base salary portion and a bonus portion. At a bare minimum, everyone is expected to work at least 150 hours per month at a minimum. This is what constitutes the base salary portion of your pay. At 150 hours of work per month, to be frank, because it's fairly typical workload in terms of what the average full time job requires, will result in just average or slightly above average pay rates. But the bonus portion is what allows you to potentially double your base income every month.
Our bonus structure we have implemented is one that rewards focus, long hour of work, and showing up consistently on time. These monthly bonuses that stack on top of your base pay will allow you to potentially double your take home pay every month if you are able to stay on top of your game consistently.
Firstly, the job has flexible hours meaning you can work whenver you want but if you are able to work a semi-fixed schedule which is defined as a stretch of 9 continuous hours (i.e you pick 9 continuous hours like 9 to 6 that you will show up to work), there will be a bonus. In fact, most jobs require you to show up on time so just the fact that you get a bonus on top of a base expectation can be thought of as a perk/bonus in and of itself.
Secondly, because you are a top performer and are able and expected to put in the workload to maximize your overtime hours which is capped at around 200 to 220 depending on the calendar month, you will receive a second bonus.
Lastly, logged hours will be tracked using software which determines if you are focused on your job by measuring the amount of inactive time. If you are highly focused, you will receive a third bonus.
Someone who maxes out all 3 bonuses will earn the equivalent of double that of an average performer working only 150 hours a month. In other words, if you are on top of your game for all 200 to 220 hours each month, expect to take home double that of someone who does a good but not phenomenal job working a standard 150 hours a month. I have had two staff members who have obtained pretty much all these bonuses consistently every month and if you are a star player yourself, you should be able to max out all your bonuses fairly consistently as well.
Here is a additional list of perks and bonuses. Full details of each individual perk can be discussed if we reach that point where you are invited for a 1 on 1 interview and we both feel good about potentially working together.
-13th, 14th, 15th month bonuses
-birthday leave
-flexible hours or semi-fixed schedule bonus (as above)
-productivity bonus (as above)
-overtime bonus (as above)
-KPI bonuses specific to your position
-Christmas present
-health insurance
-wellness fund
-career consultation with me
-exit bonus for company acquisition or IPO or after many years of service
-sick leave days
-company trips and bonuses after hitting revenue milestones
Please note that not all perks and bonuses will be available in full in the first year that you work here. For example, the 14th and 15th month bonuses will require more than 1 year of service whereas the 13th month will be valid from your first year. Like a video game, new bonuses and perks will get unlocked the more adept and longer you play.
[ WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE ]
You will be working from home but you are expected to work but you are still expected to treat it as professionally as any other job.
You can choose your own flexible work hours and schedule but remember the bonus structure of the company rewards you if you work a semi-fixed schedule.
You will have projects and assignments handed to you or you are expected to come up with your own as a natural course of doing your job.
If you have free time left over, you should act and behave like the owner and make maximize use of that free time to improve your skills or take on or research new projects that move the needle for the company.
Most of the time, you will be working on your own with no supervision but you will use software to track your time logged. We rarely have meetings or one on ones. Most communication done internally will be via a project management software or via
You are expected to work out the ideal work environment so distractions are minimized and you can put in quality hours consistently. You will need to figure out your internet situation, personal life situation, and other environmental considerations that may otherwise impede your ability to perform at your best and to earn the bonuses.
Lastly, you are expected to perform and produce results for the company consistently. If your contributions don't consistently cover your compensation, it means you have failed at your job.
[ JOB APPLICATION PROCESS ]
If you are STILL interested in this job offering after what is possibly the longest job posting you've read this week (or ever), here's what to expect after you apply.
JOB APPLICATION SUBMISSION -> 1ST INTERVIEW (questionnaire format) -> 2ND INTERVIEW (questionnaire format) -> 1-ON-1 INTERVIEW (live chat) -> 2 TO 3 MONTH TRIAL/PROBATION PERIOD -> OFFICIALLY HIRED -> PERKS AND BONUSES SLOWLY UNLOCKED AS YOU ACCUMULATE WORK HOURS
As I plan on working with you intimately over at least the next 5 years if not even longer, I need to vet properly to make sure you are not only capable but fully committed. As a small company at this point, I simply cannot afford my limited time and energy on training someone who I don't think have what it takes to work here when they are expected to serve as a foundation for what's to come. That's why I've purposely provided all this info upfront to eliminate as many unqualified candidates as possible leaving only those who are truly motivated to apply. As such, not only this job posting but the entire application process has been made typically longer and challenging than most WFH jobs posted here.
As stated above, it will first consist of you submitting your interest by following the submission instructions below. Assuming you followed the submission instructions correctly and I feel you potentially have what it takes, you will then be invited for a 1st interview (in questionnaire format) where my goal is to determine if you are the right cultural fit. Assuming you are, you will be invited back for a second interview (also in questionnaire format) to test for hard skills related to your position. Pending the cumulative results of both interviews, you will then be invited for a final 1-on-1 live interview. To clarify, the first two "interviews" are questionnaires prepared in advance so there's no actual in-person "interviewing" until the final 1-on-1 with me. You will just be sent questionnaires to fill out on a specific date and time for me to assess. If you've managed to make it all the way through all three rounds of interviews, a 2 to 3 month trial/training/probation period to ensure you are in fact right for the job. Should you survive the probation period, you will then be officially part of the team and I look forward to working with you for many years to come.
