West Coast Tree Service is a dedicated and safety-oriented tree care provider serving San Mateo, Alameda, Marin, Shasta, Tehama, Contra Costa, Humboldt, and Sonoma Counties in California. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a PTIN to join our growing team, help us manage financial records and tax preparations, and ensure compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports
• Manage accounts payable and receivable
• Assist with payroll processing
• Prepare and file tax documents, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
• Conduct regular financial audits and reconciliations
• Provide support during budgeting and forecasting processes
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Manage all aspects of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
• Prepare financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Process payroll and manage employee benefit contributions
• Prepare and file annual and quarterly tax returns for the business and the owner, including estimated tax payments
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Conduct monthly and quarterly financial audits, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Maintain and organize financial records in compliance with internal and regulatory standards
• Provide tax strategy insights to maximize business and owner tax efficiency
• Collaborate with external auditors or tax professionals as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
• Valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) (required)
• 5+ years working for US-based companies
• Required experience with Sage Intacct
• Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in mid-sized business
• Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint and other apps
